UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 Vom Fass at Klosterbräu Bamberg. It is a tasty, somewhat refreshing Schwartzbier with a decent dark malt kick.

2011-05-17, bottle, 6-4-6-3-13=32
Very dark mahogany color, almost black. Both the aroma and flavor present caramel and chocolate, that seems to be heavily oxidised; there is some sweetness in the front, while it’s dier in the end, with also a bit of roasted malts. Unexciting.

2011-02-12, draught at the brauhaus, 7-4-7-3-15=36
Dark mahogany color; generous head. Nice delicate aroma of roasted malt. Malty flavor, sweetish, with a round mouthfeel, and a good chocolate and coffee component, delicate; the bitterness is quite low, although in the end the coffeish touch is more evident. Very good Schwarz.

50 cl bottle from "Il Regno di Gambrinus". Served into an english half pint glass. Pours a clear dark ruby red/brown with an off white non-persistent head. Averace lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, herbs hops, some light chocolate and caramel. Same taste with an herbal and toasted aftertaste. Good carbonation, watery texture. Not my favourite Schwarz but still very refreshing and easy to drink.

Moravius (407) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 17, 2014
Flasche von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefes Schwarzbraun, klar; reichlich beigefarbener Schaum.

Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a slight mahogany hue. Inch thick, dense and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is medium sweet malts with a touch of molasses, a light roast note, some raisin bread, and a light noble hopping. Flavor is similar. A light roast throughout with a bit of an noble hop note, some lightly sweetened malts with molasses hints, roast, bread, and a touch of spice. Finishes clean and dry with a light roasty bitterness and a bit of a sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and an active carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid schwarzbier. Clean, easy drinking, and flavorful. A touch sweet at times, but nicely balanced by the roasts and light hopping. Good one.
