Really nice Belgiany DIPA here from Knee Deep. Elements of the OG brew with a nice floral tropical hop note, hints of straw and grass, and a big sweet malt front. The Belgian yeast adds a lovely layer of complexity fruiting the beer our even further. Good stuff!

Bottle. Light copper with a quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is grassy, floral, fruity and slight barnyard funk. Taste follows suit but focuses more on fruit. Very delicate palate with just enough sharp carbonation to balance the mouthfeel. Really well made.

Hazy, bright orange in color with a fine white head, this beer has a very oily aroma of floral, herbal, slightly spicy hops that are fresh and sharp on the nose. Nomnom! A touch of bready sweetness balances things out as the light, but soft mouthfeel cozies my palate up to a dash of caramel malts. This is very effervescent, oily, herbal, sharp, and almost floral. Really, really beautiful.

I had the Simtra Triple IPA awhile back and it was fabulous! I thought this would be the same. WRONG! Crystal clear. No sediment at all....Suck! I will never buy another BELGO again! Unless it’s from Dieu de Ciel but I doubt they would even make one. If you make a beer like this it should be the best of both styles instead of the worst characteristics of each style. Some mild florals and caramel malt. The flavor is sweet and candy like with lime, citrus, caramel, florals, clove and a rather off putting phenolic and alcohol character that makes this a bit difficult to drink. Barely passable. This beer sucks!

In a trade-thanks, Roy! Slightly cloudy copper. Malty, caramel nose, don’t get a lot of hops or belgian yeast notes. Malty, slightly dank IPA, but prefer this to the original based on memory. No Simtra but a solid DIPA.

On tap at capitol beer sacramento. Color is copper with white head. Aroma is fruity. The taste has a nice fruit flavor with a nice clean bitter finish.

Has been a couple of years since the Belgian IPA craze. Combination of pine, slight citrus and yeasty bread. Clear copper with a white head. Citrus more present on the flavor. Yeast well represented. Moderate high bittering. A little in unbalanced.

Pours a copper orange with a two finger off white head with excellent lacing. Aroma is of belgian yeast, citrus, pine, sweet malts, banana, pepper and cloves, spicy hops, and candied fruits. Taste is about the same as the aroma but as the light boozy notes which detracts from the beer. Has a medium body with a slightly watery mouthfeel and a dry, moderately bitter, slightly boozy, medium finish. Overall, a pretty good belgian DIPA that could do without some of its boozy notes.

Bomber purchased at BevMo in Escondido ($6.99). Pours a hazy golden-orange hue with one finger of white foam. AROMA of loquat, apricot, nectarine, citrus spicy hops, and white wine. FLAVOR with lots of fruit (tangerine, grapefruit, red grape, apricots, peaches), pine needles, and herbal and spicy hops, with a bit of bready malts. Nice mixture of traditional DIPA flavors with some extra interesting fruitiness from the Belgian yeast fermentation. Still finishes fairly bitter. The high ABV is fairly well concealed. A pretty good effort on a "style" that is hard to do. (28, 840)
