Draft. Mango and pine aroma, with a mild bitter taste with a long finish. Aroma is great didnít really pick up the Belgian yeast. I very much enjoyed this twist on the Hoptologist.

In a trade-thanks, Roy! Slightly cloudy copper. Malty, caramel nose, donít get a lot of hops or belgian yeast notes. Malty, slightly dank IPA, but prefer this to the original based on memory. No Simtra but a solid DIPA.

Bottled. Pours amber with an average, white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, citrus fruits, especially grapefruit. Sweet flavor that ends up dry an solid bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice DIPA.

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours an amber color with a bit of head. Intense hopiness and the belgian yeast flavor is overpowered.

On tap at Monkey Paw Brewpub. Hazy golden appearance with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma is of heavy citrus, some pineapple, light grass, and sweet sugary notes. Taste is of grapefruit, some tropical fruit, and light pine.

Bottle: The aroma consists of tropical fruits, pineapple, candi sugar, and citrus/grapefruit. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a small soapy off-white head. Thereís a good amount of thin webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with tropical fruits, faint banana, and candi sugar. The finish has moderate spice, grapefruit, and a hint of lemon peel. Itís medium bodied with mild carbonation.

From a 22 oz bottle shared in Avon NC. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Aroma of pine. Flavors of orange and spruce resin. Malty backbone. Bitter fiinish.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a small white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving a ring of foam and decent lacing. Aroma is an interesting mix of citrus, mango, belgian yeast, touch of funk. Flavor is about the same, light sweet, medium bitter, yeasty. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. In my opinion this one is too far on the "Belgian" side. The hop presence is limited to a single note "bitter" rather than the citrus/floral medli that you get from the regular hoptologist.

27 sept 2013, bottle. Light gold, clear, occasional bubbles. Nose is golden syrup, pine hops, some sweet yeast. Med body and mildly fizzy. Grassy hops, cereal malt, mild bitter finish. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle in San Diego. This is a big beer. The Belgian yeast flavors are muted, which is great for me, and the rest is all sorts of pine, citrus, herbs. Sticky oily. A bit too sweet but excellent job for a 9% DIPA.
