Part of the MEPS series. A single hop, west coast stlye american Pale Ale with intense hop flavor and aroma’s. This is a citrus bomb that has grapefruit and passion fruit aroma’s with citrus lime flavors.

Picked up this 22 at Home Brew Stuff a week or so ago, but have since found it at all the usual haunts (COOP, Brewers Haven, Bier Thirty Etc.). Poured tonight into my CC Teku... Nice enough 1/2" white head... splotchy lacing atop a fairly clear orange brew. Nose shows a nice tangerine zest hoppiness with good melon and other tropical fruity hops... very dry aroma with no real maltiness to help the hops bloom out of the glass. Flavor is surprisingly tame... good hop presence, but is out of tune with the malts as there is only a dry crackery element to help with the hops... Good drinkability, but just an above average brew... I wanted to like this one more.

tap at beer study. Orange golden with a thick sticky white head and lace. Nose is quite resinous up front, with notes of grapefruit, and a sweeter maltiness. Similar flavor, a little more malt than I’d like to taste in a beer like this, but it still remains fairly dry overall with grapefruit coming on strong in the finish. Solid.

pours clear bright golden with a small off-white head showing some retention and lacing. spicy caramel, brown and barley sugar, toasted doughy caramel maltiness - kind of sugary, tough pine needles, herbal tea, bit of perfumey flowers. average carbonation, light body - oily and a tad sugary, assertive yet balanced grassy-spicy-citrusy-piney finish. weak non extra pale ale.

I mean, it’s basically an IPA haha. A Pale for the standards of the hop addicts KD, but it’s an IPA. And a good one at that! Grapefruit abound!

Pour is copper with a thin white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of fruits, caramel and alcohol. Taste is of intense caramel, more so than I can tolerate. It comes out as toffee almost at times and there is just not enough bitterness to bring it back into positive territory (more bitter than sweet). Alcohol is not hidden that well also, blah. Body was medium and carbonation too. Overall a letdown, where are the hoppy flavors?!

Bottle dated 7/9/14 so a month old. Pour has a dark golden color with a covering of white head that retained well Aroma has juicy citra hops like they are candy coated, mild supporting malt, a touch of bitterness, and light alcohol. Mouth feel is full for a pale ale and coats well with strong carbonation. Flavor has some bitterness upfront, super juicy citra hops, mild resins, bitter citrus rind, pine touches, and a smooth finish. This does not hide the sharpness of the citra hops at all and there is some malt to support it though the hops are the center stage here. Being 7% and as crushing as this is on the hops it is hard for me to wrap myself around this being a pale ale though the site lists it as an ipa. I wish there was a bit of sweetness to cut into the hops and soften this up a bit because the sharpness and bitterness get intense.

Bottle and served in IPA tulip: Clean deep golden hue with an okay head and lace. Juicy melon, passionfruit, key lime and orange zest with a fair amount of rounded malt. Some dankness creeps in as it warms up. Not a lot of bitterness so I guess that is why it is not called an IPA. Like most single hopped beers it doesn’t have alot of depth.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a fluffy white head that lasts through out the beer. Aroma has lots of earthy citrus, earthy grains and a bit of bread. Flavor has lots of bread and biscuit with a good amount of bitter citrus.
