Pailhead (5061) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - OCT 24, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of heavy citrus hops, candied oranges, caramel, and a touch of pine and herbal notes. It pours a transparent copper with a one finger white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thick soapy ring. There is some thin soapy webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with sweet citrus/orange and caramel. The finish has moderate pine, grapefruit, and some light toasty nights. Itís medium-full bodied with soft carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, itís solid...but thereís too much caramel for my IIPA preferences.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Aroma of malt, onion and pine. Malty and oniony flavor with a piney finish.

On draft. Clear golden orange pour, with a white head. Lots of fresh juicy hops, grapefruit, pineapple, some mango, pine resin, sweet, notes of caramel, and a bit boozy. A little too sweet, not really bitter (a good thing), and nice hoppiness.

650ml bottle from Whole Foods Bowery, New York @ Varjopikkujoulut

Bottled 09/02/14 - Pours clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of booze, floral hops, caramely malts, toffee and citrus. Taste is pure hoppiness with some booze, floral notes, caramel, toffee, citrus, pine, resin and fruits. Finish is floral, herbal and slightly malty with loads of lingering bitterness and hoppiness. Long lasting hoppy burps. Heavy and extreme stuff.

Bottle, May 6, 2014. Pours clear orange amber, small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving some lacing. Aroma is very caramel, pine. Flavor is medium sweet and strong bitter, pine, caramel, some residual citrus, dank leaves. Biting harsh bitter finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Bummer on this one; a month in the cooler did not treat it well. First miss from Knee Deep for me so far.

On tap at Beer Rev. It pours a semi clear light gold with a tall white head. The aroma is on point with intense citrus, sharp pine and spicy hops. A little mango. The flavor is super spicy hops with more fresh citrus and very mild honey. The finish is bitter and spicy. Strong alcohol, but the freshness and intensity of the hop character matches it well. I donít usually go for these massive IIPAís anymore, but this one was tasty.

Golden orange clear pour from 22oz at home. Aroma is tropical, pears, lipstick. Taste is very hoppy tropical fruits that covers the high ABV nicely. Pretty enjoyable.

8oz pourv at Big Sur Taphouse. Good aroma sweet. Orange. Grapefruit. Little cedar. Lightly hazed golden orange color. Ok head and lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body. Creamy oily mouthfeel. Bitter sweet with a harsh bite on the finish. Pretty good. Just boozy. Otherwise good iipa. Aroma best part. Flavor and finish kind of suffer from high ABV.

Bottle. A golden color with a white head. A huge spicy aroma with cloves, grapefruit, orange and loads of hops. A shock on the palate with a long dry bitter finish.
