Overall, OK, but too many bittering hops, not enough aromatic ones. The aromatic hop notes were nice, however.

Appearance: hazy pale amber with two fingers of fluffy ivory head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: resiny pine, caramel malt, grapefruit zest, grassy. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, high bitter. (6/10) Medium slightly oily body, moderate carbonation, off-dry short duration finish. (3/5) Please don’t be malt-forward, please don’t be malt-forward, please don’t be malt-forward… huh. It’s… sort of… not malt forward. Malt heavy, sure, but not dominant. But the malts and the hops appear to be a mish-mash of whatever they could get their hands on - there’s certainly no overriding theme here. And yes, it’s way, WAY too old. I’d try it younger if I could get it younger, except I’m in the friggin’ boonies, do they deliver this shit by walking it over the border, yadda yadda yadda. On the other hand, the big ABV doesn’t really factor, so there’s that. It’s a big, malty DIPA. If that’s your thing, go nuts - but I’m less than impressed. (13/20)

Sample from bottle at Hy-Vee Oktoberfest. Poured orangish, white head. Aroma is pine, body odor, grassy hops. Taste was bitter, earthy hops.

Bottle from Meditrina. Light clear copper with lasting head and lace. Piney honey bready herbal aroma. Peachy apricot fruity honey sweetness with assertive piney herbal bitter long finish. Medium full sticky body bordering on cloying. Pretty decent if this were 1998. I just don’t have to be bludgeoned to pulp by my DIPAs these days.

Wow. Just wow. A lot of alcohol and hops and yet I can drink this easy. It's a damn good imperial IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ok, though bottled 07/07/16, I opened unexpectantly and was hoping for the best, still, after smelling and then tasting, yes, I shall proceed with the rest. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a bronzed to burnt amber color with a nice transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a nice pace. Quickly dissipating finger’s worth of white foamy head, messy lacing. The aroma feels out some sweet citrus to bitter piney punchy bitter hoppiness. Sweet sticky malts lie underneath. Pleasant hop oils. The flavor keeps everything from the aroma going like a race train running smooth and bittersweet on my tastebuds. Dry combined bittersweet aftertaste running into the finish, which is quite quick, (it’s a blink and you’ll miss that finish). On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a hidden sly sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good and displaces just the right amount of punchy bittersweet. Pure and dry. Overall, now this was the DIPA I was waiting for, damn right, Knee Deep, there ya go, guys!

Alla spina. Color biondo-aranciato, schiuma bianca soffice. Profumata e fruttata, una DIPA cremosa e "classica" amara ma ben equilibrata con quel caratteristico tocco caramellato che emerge tra i luppoli.

Bottle. Yay IPA day! Pours a hazy light amber color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is a bit stale and grassy, which makes some sense with a 4/27 date on it. Taste is bitter and a bit dry, and almost ends up leaving you more parched. Not a fan of this one.

Bottle. Opaque amber color, rich off-white head. Sweet hop aroma. Strong, hoppy flavor with grapefruit. Full body, medium carbonation. Classic example of the style.

Pours amber with a large head. Nose shows pine, resinous hops, and sweet-smelling clean malt. Flavours include more pine and resinous hops as well as soft spicy and grapefruit notes. Also some light clean malt followed by an aggressive bitterness.

650ml bottle from Beer Cartel. Hazy amber beer, thick off-white head., decent lace. Aroma and taste is like an early morning stroll through a grapefruit orchard followed by a pine forest, with some caramel malt counterbalance. Medium-full body with a big dry resinous hop bitterness and the ABV hardly noticeable. A hop monster!
