Bomber purchased from Whole Foods. I rated the IPA earlier and I’m again surprised this is the 2nd rating for something I bought at WF. This beer has a really off aroma and taste- its the same (astringent?) taste I had on the IPA, but more or worse on this effort. Its clear and nicely filtered but man there is something really not enjoyable from what could be considered a Hop Monster of a beer. Hopefully they keep tweaking things and this beer raises to the Cali DIPA level.

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottled 9/10/2014. Courtesy of my friend Ed, thanks! Clear dark amber with two fingers of off-white head. Nice webby lacing. Aromas of toasty notes, citrus, biscuit, light floral notes. Tastes of candied citrus, toasty notes, biscuit. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good and well balanced, surprisingly not too sweet or boozy like some of Knee Deep’s other offerings.

Bottle frm Kris Wines (London). Rich resiny hop aroma. Lots of piney bitterness with some sharpish unripe mango & citrus tones in there. Good malty weight without being too sweet or heavy. Really nice and hits the spot if you need a hoppy boost.

Poured from bottle it has a golden amber color with a medium head. Aroma of pine and grass with some grapefruit. Taste has bitterness up front with lots of hops. Some citrus kicks in along with some grass. Good finish.

Frothy white foam covers the surface of this brassy, amber brew, but stops none of the amazing aroma drifting upwards from the liquid. The Citra is prominent here and you all know how much I love my Citra! The heavy pine and grassy citrus is laden with sweet malt, the medium body coating my tongue with sticky, resin tastiness. The experience is a little on the boozy side, but sometimes, that’s exactly what you want! Once again I am enamored with a Knee Deep presentation and am one step closer to being completely in love with this brewery. The finish is long, dry and fits snugly under the back of my tongue, coaxing the flavors forward and luring me back to the glass over and over again.

"another winning hoppy brew from the boys at Knee Deep. While playing with Hopstar pre-production, there were versions approaching this. chewy, sticky hops, sweet malt, with a really cool buttery flavor and aroma in addition to intense citrus and pine. very nice IIPA while watching the G-men dismantle the Falcons :) 2/17-wow, REALLY short shelf life. that sucks..."

Draft at Kern River courtesy of Jeremy. Nose is citrus, pine, and mango. Nice and hoppy. Flavor is lightly bitter with a bunch of tropical fruits. Yellow with a small offwhite head.
