Knee Deepís 2 year Anniversary brew. The Imperial Tanilla was brewed with twice as many vanilla beans as its brother (Tanilla), which compliments this wonderfully balanced, yet full bodied brew with chocolate, vanilla and espresso flavors.

Fresh bottle. Nose of strong roasted coffee. Pours dark brown, medium head that fades quickly. Nice lacing on The glass. Flavor town! Big boozy flavor in your mouth. Donít get much vanilla until the aftertaste. l

Pours a black color with a tan head. Strong of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor isnít as strong as the 10% suggests. Strong flavor of the roasted malts and coffee with some chocolate. Not much warming on it.

It has a flat, almost sour malty nose, and a deep, dark chocolate color. Fairly smooth, almost thin mouthfeel. The vanilla is very subtle, barely noticeable, which is not necessarily a good thing. I cannot even get a note off the bourbon barrels. I had high expectations for this, somewhat disappointed in its simplicity, although it is a nice offering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Coffee taste with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Hides the alcohol well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very dark brown color with an espresso head that holds on for a little bit before receding. Mostly a Starbuckian roast note in the aroma. The taste is coffee with a swirl of chocolate and vanilla sweetness. Sure doesnít taste like 10%.

~Strong roasty malt presence in aroma with vanilla and chocolaty notes. ~Pours pitch black with small quickly disappearing off white head. ~Strong roast burnt like character in flavor with coffee and dark chocolate, not really getting any vanilla in the flavor. ~Medium bodied with medium CO2, lingering roasty finish. ~Enjoyable brew. Hides the alcohol really well behind the roast and the roast isnít too overbearing. Good beer just a bit one dimensional. I was hoping for complexity.

Strong Ale 2012. Dark brown colored pour with a khaki head. A fair amount of roasted malt, some vanilla, coffee, and toffee sweetness. A bit metallic, some dark chocolate, and maybe some water. Thereís a decent bit of vanilla, some toffee sweetness, and quite a lot of roast. A bit of dark chocolate, metal, and coffee.

22oz bottle, shared by Jay. Good dark chocolate and roasted malt nose. Dark near-black color. Good thin light brown head, leaves good lace. Nice big roasty malt flavor. Smokey, some well-done toastiness. Kind of a bigger body, but good texture overall. Lighter crisp carbonation. Good mild dryness. Mild bitterness, little sweetness. Good smokey roasted malt light dark chocolate aftertaste. Gotta say, itís a thoroughly enjoyable imperial porter.

I wish all beer was made by people who love beer this much. The secret of this beer is that they only add just enough vanilla to compliment what would be a fine porter on itís own. This may be my favorite porter of ever.
