Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a thin creamy cap of tan.

Aroma: Vanilla, butterscotch and chocolate malt.

Taste: Butterscotch, brownie mix, burnt roast, a touch of alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, rough carbonation.

Overall: I need to revisit this beer, I think there was something off with this, as my friends rave about this beer.

Dark brown, with a light tan head. Light roast, sweet malt, vanilla extract, and chocolate. Enjoyable, but simple.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Created a thin layer of khaki colored foam while the liquid was a dark brown that was near being black. Aroma is sweet and sugary with scents of chocolate milk, vanilla ice cream or extract along with a light roasty smell in the faint background. The drink is smooth with a robust profile of dark and roast malts that makes this is heavier porter worthy of an Imperial title. Flavor does bring out a bit of sweetness with hints of vanilla while also giving off a little alcohol burn in the finish as if I took a swig of a bottle of vanilla extract. Good stuff for the price of $8 a bomber.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium to big, firm light tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, biscuit, light coffee, caramel, earth and bread. Nice. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Full bodied with medium carbonation and very velvety, smooth mouthfeel.

Black with a beige head. Aroma is vanilla, sausage, floral hops, chocolate. Medium bodied, greasy mouthfeel, well balanced on the palate. Taste is vanilla, bologna, chocolate, pecans. A little strange.

Pours a dark black with a light beige head. The nose is vanilla, cocoa nibs, bourbon, fig, star anis and cake. The pallet is smooth vanilla with bourbon, date, anis, cocoa nibs and finishes with a bitter hoppiness to clear the pallet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

10/8/12 bomber from papago. dark importer brown color approaching black with a creamy cappuccino head. big floral and estery nose... along with roast are the only notes i get until it hits about 70 degrees....after, fermented vanilla, umami, lactose, butterscotch and molasses. the flavor shows about the same thing but with some banana and a mild bitterness on the finish. this really doesn’t taste like anything i would expect....no real oily vanilla, no choco, no coffee...odd. the texture is nice however... big and creamy but controlled enough to finish. 5/4/5/4/13

Deep brown with tannish head.... Fairly silky rich body.... Flavor is dark chocolates, vanilla, and burnt malts with distinct bitter chocolate finish.... Pretty solid beer, a lot bigger than the original Tanilla

Knee Deep’s hit parade keeps on marching. This is far and away the best porter I’ve ever had. The vanilla gives an enticing counterpoint to the roasted malts, it’s thick and chewy without being overly heavy. It’s a big beast of a beer, but restrained enough for easy drinking. A must try for dark beer fans.

22oz bottle. Dark brown almost black with a creamy tan head and some lacing. Aroma of vanilla and chocolate mostly with some coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is bitter chocolate, black roasted malt, sweet caramel and some alcoholic vanilla. Full body with soft carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. This one is all about the vanilla and chocolate, really nice and hides the alcohol well.
