COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Knee Deepís 2 year Anniversary brew. The Imperial Tanilla was brewed with twice as many vanilla beans as its brother (Tanilla), which compliments this wonderfully balanced, yet full bodied brew with chocolate, vanilla and espresso flavors.

10/8/12 bomber from papago. dark importer brown color approaching black with a creamy cappuccino head. big floral and estery nose... along with roast are the only notes i get until it hits about 70 degrees....after, fermented vanilla, umami, lactose, butterscotch and molasses. the flavor shows about the same thing but with some banana and a mild bitterness on the finish. this really doesnít taste like anything i would expect....no real oily vanilla, no choco, no coffee...odd. the texture is nice however... big and creamy but controlled enough to finish. 5/4/5/4/13

Similar to the regular Tanilla in that itís a little disappointing and not very complex. There is coffee and chocolate backing up the vanilla but it just doesnít mesh into what it seems like it could.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2016 Draft at Bru Craft. Glossy black pour with khaki foam. Modest show of lace. Strong vanilla bean flavor. Hints of coffee and dark cocoa but mostly a dark roasty vanilla brew back to front. Good for what it is but not very complex. Kudos though for doing a pure vanilla brew and not having it feel like a milkshake.

BOD 12/4/15. Pours pitch black. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Very good nose of chocolate, coffee, light roast and vanilla plus a hint of char. Medium body that is quite smooth and has creamy hints from time to time on the finish. Quite outstanding carbonation / body balance with an effervescent middle and a nice, but not quite rollicking, prickly finish. The flavor profile lacks a bit of complexity (due to poor separation) but does cover the 10% ABV so I consider it outstanding. Intensity is adequate while balance is world class. The heavier flavors (coffee, roast) lead then flow to a nice moderate molasses like sweetness in the middle. Here dark, slightly bitter, bakers chocolate emerges against a mild roast and hop bitterness backdrop. Vanilla gains in prominence from the middle through the finish. Quite drinkable but lacks the intensity and separation to really WOW you.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Alon. Very dark brown to black. Aroma of roast, a bit of vanilla, coffee, chocolate. Sweet flavor with nuts, caramel, chocolate, a bit of vanilla, some coffee, and a bitterish finish. Rounded mouthfeel. Very nice.

Draught @ Albion. Opaque dark brown with small foamy tan head, low carbonation, slightly sweet mocha taste, long mocha finish. Quite a smooth and fulfilling brew.

Bottle [from trade with mista if Iím not mistaken] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Opaque dark brown to black color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, dark malts and vanilla. Taste malts, dark malts, liquorice, firm vanilla, soft sweetness, light bitterness, coffee amd espresso lightly, some chocolate, slightly some hops come through as well. Medium to full body, suitable soft yet sort of medium carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by benzai. Black colour with a medium to large beige head. Smells vanilla, roasty, chocolate, coffee, nice. Tastes roasty, coffee liquorice, vanilla, chocolate. Could do with a little less liquorice and even more chocolate and vanilla. Full body, soft carbo.

Pours nice enough, love the rich vanilla espresso on the nose. Taste is very vanilla dominated with coffee beans and a slightly leathery chocolate taste. I like vanilla beers and this is a well balanced quality beer, nothing out of the ordinary just solid.
