Looks great. Not all that much hop in the aroma, but a definite hop flavor with a very strong bitter finish to it, but in a way I like. Dry yet still refreshing. Nice.

Can’t believe this IPA is black. Nive hoppy aroma and flavor. What I like about this beer is that is doesn’t have a lot of dark malt flavors to it, but it’s still black.

Poured into a snifter. Aroma was nice, but not as hoppy as expected, the flavor reflected the hops better, aroma was mostly malt. Very nice beer still, but not the best black ipa.

Bomber from Beer Revolution. Pours black with a 2 finger creamy tan head. Aroma of lots of resin? hop over some dark roast malt. Med + body. Flavor seems a mix of resin/floral/grapefruit over smooth dark malt. It seems to rapidly become mostly grapefruit, imparting a hop burn. Very nice stuff.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of charcoal, roastiness, grapefruit, pine and light cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of charcoal, roastiness, grapefruit and a hint of pine with a crisp dry bitter lingering roasty finish.

Dark plum colored pour with a large cola colored head. Aroma holds sticky citrus, resinous hop, some bitter roast, and nice grassy presence as well. Flavor is quite tasty, with a good balance of porter-like malt character with the aforementioned orange, grapefruit, and pine hoppiness. Average mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BlackIPA (747) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 25, 2012
Big thanks to NorCalgrowler for this trade extra. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a dark brown head. Roast and cocoa in the nose. Taste follows suit, with the addition of bittering hops. Mouthfeel is slick. A nice Black IPA, and in my opinion better than Stone’s recent collaboration "more brown than black".

bottle shared by wray043. Pours pitch black with a large biege head. Has a citrus aroma and a burnt chocolate malty flavor with a bitter pine finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Wittales (446) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Appearance was blackish, creamy 1 finger tannish head with average retintion ,no lacing.Aromas where roasted sweet malts hints of coffee or toffee. Hops where faintly present in nose. Taste where sweet malts upfront then the hops came shinnig through with bite.Mouthfeel was smooth creamy carbonation meduim body with long astringent bite towards the back. Could be more balanced...

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Created a monstrous thick fluffy head up top while the liquid was an opaque brown color. The aroma is mild and smells soapy with a minor scent of hops in the background. The flavor is smooth and evenly divided between the lightly roasted malts and a minimal addition of hops that in the end comes across as a tame and timid black IPA recipe.
