Bomber. Pours a clear golden orange color with a small head that fades normally. Powerful pine and floral aroma, some malt and lemon citrus too. Taste is a tad harsh with strong up front bitterness and very little sweetness. But I always like piney and floral IPA’s and this doesn’t disappoint with that. Pretty sold malt backbone too. Thick mouthfeel for an IPA. Overall pretty solid but there are better options that don’t have the harshness.

Bottle. Strong hoppy grapefruit aroma. Medium straw color. Slightly harsh citrusy initial / some malt comes through in mid palate, but mosty more strong hops / a somewhat scratchy hop finish. Medium body. Hop & malt balance is not quite there. Okay.

Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; malty though. A semi-transparent orangish-brown with foamy off-white lacing. Smells of bitter hops with a malty, boozy backbone. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Decent, but maltier than I generally prefer.

hazy gold-amber, thin white ring, oily head. Nose is hazy burnt sugar, orange, light perfume and dough. Flavor is burnt sugar up front, metallic and oily orange mid with a strongly sticky, sugary finish, light orange and pine sol finish. Thick, frothy. A good example of what I don’t like.

651mL thanks to nimbleprop. Pours a clear golden, decent buttermilk head. Nose is red onion, yellow onion. Taste is onion, nut skins, walnut, orange gum drops. Palate spicy, dry, nutty.

Bottle:   Fireweed honey in color, large frothy off-white head, fairly nice lacing.   Dank citrus and pith on the nose.   A bit sweaty and musty.   Soft citrus notes on the tongue, a little muted and dull, and also sweaty/musty.   Not terribly bright, nor bitter.   Seems a bit dank overall.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Dull sweaty dank finish.   Not bad, but the sweat/dank aspect detracts too much.   Needs to be a bit brighter.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2013 Bottle from bevmo. Color is dark amber with egg shell head. Aroma is pine and sweet grape fruit. Taste is a nice balance of pungent hops and malt.
