Bottle - Roasty malts, chocolate and huge pine notes. Jet black with a rich brown head. Roast, coffee, chocolate and pine hops. Lots of roast and good huge hops to balance. Big beer, but great.

Pours a really dark black color with a thick dark mocha colored head. With a ton of retention the head sticks around like crazy. A nice wavy lacing. A creamy feel right upfront is the first thing I notice. A very interesting beer. A bitter coffee flavor is the starter here. A decent rye bitterness makes an appearance. A very smooth and creamy brew. Very interesting. The abv is very hidden be careful.

"A very well balanced and full imperial black ipa. Orange peel, spruce, roasted malt, molasses and coffee. Hard to believe this is the abv it is it is so well integrated. Not too shabby :)"

Sample at Suds on the Shore. Pours black with an off-white head. Hops, dark roasted malt smokiness in the aroma and taste. Nice black IPA.

I found this beer to be very average and not special in anyway. The hops were flat and the malts seems overly burnt in flavor. I will be trying this beer again to make sure I didn't just get a defective product.

Flaske: En af de bedste Black IPA jeg har fået. Kulsort øl med et flot skumhoved. Duften er superlækker blød tropisk. Smagen er slet ikke ristet. Sort IPA i denne udgave er ganske hæderlig. God øl.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/7/2014. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, spicy rye, dark bread, floral, grass, pine, and floral/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, spicy rye, dark bread, floral, grass, pine, and floral/roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, spicy rye, dark bread, floral, grass, pine and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, balance, and robustness of bright citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome imperial black IPA! All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft at brewery. A moderate roast in the nose with some grassiness. Taste is like a chocolate/coffee combo. Short of a harsh roastiness. Quite pleasant and I am not a fan of this style. Light citrus and grass in the flavor from the hops. good.
