Ryedenity Crisis is a medium-bodied, unfiltered, rye Belgian saison. Itís slightly sweet flavor is balanced by itís fruity aroma and moderate tartness.

Bomber from Total Wine, Greenville, SC. If ever a name was an object lesson in how to avoid snarky ratings, this would be a top contender. But in fairness, it actually is emphatically a saison in terms of its majority characteristics. So no stylistic crisis, but just not an especially good beer. Light copper pour, moderately carbonated, and an unassuming nose of grain, generic yeast, and phenols. Slightly watery mouthfeel does little for the flavors, which come across like buttery popcorn, mild spice, and a bunch of fruits. Meh.

10 ounce sample on tap at Dadís Kitchen in Sacramento, CA during Sacramento Beer Week. The aroma is a bit sweet and sugary. There are a fair amount of dusty horseblanket yeast esters present. This also has a bit of an awkward minty and chocolate aroma, too. Weird. Moderately transparent mahogany body with a very small off-white head. Starts kind of chocolatey and a bit salty. Actually, this is rather salty. A little spiced in the middle, before this becomes thick and syrupy later on. The finish is dominated by the dusty banana yeast esters. Just a little too different. Too big, and too cloying for a saison. Needs to be drier.

Pours clear light copper color with white head. Grainy and malty aroma. Sweet caramel and cereal malt flavors with some grassy hops. Medium body with average carbonation. OK, but not worth seeking out or having again.

Mostly clear orange with a thin whit head. Some malt, some citrus in the aroma, not much here really. Light sweetness at the start, some bitterness in the finish. Not very complex, but no faults either.

Nice and sharp with a strong grainy taste. Itís flavor is quite different with a nice bite yet very drinkable. Hops are not too outstanding. The bite is coming from the malt and the rye

From a bottle poured a straw color with a small amount of head. Bitter hoppy flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

Not much to this one...straw colored pour with a fluffy ivory head. Yeasty nose with mild pepper, lemongrass, and earthiness. Slightly hoppy with a smidge of citrus. Meh.

22oz bottle. Rating #10. Clear medium golden pour with a nice white head. Sweet apple aroma, very malty with a little rye spice. Light flavor, smooth eith a nice little rye spice, itís still a little too light for me. (1971)

22oz bomber, no date for $8.49 at OB Quik Stop a couple days ago. Clear golden with a small off-white head, low retention down to a thick ring. Sweet rye as well as some fruity sweet yeast esters (overripe peach and banana) and a tinge of earth. No pepper notes so far. Flavor follows suit with overripe fruit and moderate earthy rye sweetness. I canít believe this is 8% ABV, masked incredibly well. Not a whole lot else going on, as far as I can tell. Dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 3-4. Medium body with light prickly carbonation. Didnít seem like a saison to me--more like an overestered Belgian ale with some sweet rye.
