Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

22oz bottle from Cask níFlask, San Jose- bottled 27/09/13, drank right now. Sober. Deep copper-amber with an undulating white foam. Nose of bright floral peach, strawberry chew, blackcurrant and pine; stewed tea and lychee hop slathered in honey sweetness and peppery booze. Hot front with orange liqueur and honey, medicinal (throat sweet) honey and lemon bitterness, dragonfruit and red apple undercurrents losing the battle to the alcohol. Good multi-coloured hop-scented belches- too little too late. Coming to the conclusion I donít much care for high ABV hop monsters where the nuances, aromatics and pungency of the hops get sledgehammered by sweetness and heat.

Bottle. Clear copper with a fluffy white head. Aroma is caramel malt and piney hops. Taste is shockingly malt forward. Tons of caramel malt. Extremely bitter with notes of pine and citrus. Significant alcohol heat. Thick syrupy mouthfeel with light carbonation. Great balance but still intense.

Pailhead (5634) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - NOV 7, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy citrus, mango, pineapple, peach, lemon, and pine. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a two finger yellow-tinted off-white head that has decent retention before it finally settles into a soapy film. There is a decent amount of soapy webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy citrus, pineapple, and mango. There is some light caramel in the background. The finish has moderate-heavy grapefruit, lighter pine, and a touch of alcohol. Itís medium-full bodied with mild carbonation with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, it tastes and feels like the big beer it is.

very big and bold, lots of crystal sweetness and pine, but some candy sugar and caramel to balance in the finish. a tiny bit one dimensional, but delivers where you would expect. good at hiding the huge ABV, also. a big hoppy beer with some finesse.

Have to say this is quite a simple beer - big piney goodness. Drier than expected which meant the bitterness was more prevalent. Unfortunately in this country woefully overpriced so the overall aspect is compromised.

Extraordinary bitter. But what does 8/20/13 bottle mean. If bottled then, this is what it should be. A bomber must be shared. Thanks StephadSD.

I was startled by how bitter this was, I know I read the label it says 131 IBU, I should have paid more attention, I didnít. This has a cracking aroma of hops that dies away to caramel, but the palate is assaulted by bitter prime resinous notes and a touch of buttery grapefruits. Itís not all bad, but finishes a bit dry overall. Iíd easily stand this up to any strong flavour food and be smiling by both.

Bomber from City Beer. Less than 2 weeks old. Hazy light orange pour, thin white head. Aroma is serious hop-overload: loads of dank mango, grapefruit and pineapple, bit of murky ganja, tangerine, peaches, pine resin. An assault. Taste bashes you all over with hops: all that dank tropical goodness matches up to the thick pine resin. Great pithy grapefruit melts your palate. So much mango comes through as it warms. More resin and pine needles. Very light smattering of caramel sweetness. Juicy grapefruit/um bongo juice finish, with earth shattering bitterness that becomes earthier and earthier. Crikey. This is a beast. YES.

The initial floral, citrusy aroma of this triple IPA had my mouth watering.
