Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

Pours a clear, deep golden color with a foamy, eggshell colored head that has just the faintest green hue. Rich bouquet of big pine, lemon zest, mown grass, and, occasionally emerging sweet citrus. Moutfheel is light- to medium-bodied, soft, and wet, but mildly hot from the hop alpha acid. Alcohol is present, but not uncomplimentary. Tangy flavors of pine and pink grapefruit. A bit of unseasoned beef jerky sweetness comes through as well. Very reminiscent of Pliny the Younger for those of you who can’t make it to Santa Rosa every February to stand in line for four to five hours.

Definite tropical citrus dAnk and oranges lemon hop notes. Malt notes add sweetness and fruitiness to the hop bill. Yes. Leafy citrus maybe a little vegetable. Golden great clarity nice head and lace. Danky oranges tropical fruits maybe a little catty and malt sweetness underneath. Danky chewy finish. Lingering citrus and big resinous. Balanced at the high Abv. Solid beer.

Pours a syrupy orange with a fair white head. Nose is citrus and malt. Flavor is pretty much the same, with a bit of pine. The beer is ever so syrupy, but not so much that I find it off putting. This is definitely the best Triple IPA I’ve had to date. So many of them seem to drink more like barley wines than IIPAs. Although this offering certainly has a malty backbone, it stays more true to its IPA roots than most of the style. Still, I will probably just stick to IPAs and IIPAs in the future.

Pours a nice golden color. Has a nice hop taste. The high alcohol content is well hidden. It has a nice smooth bitter aftertaste.

bottle from my local whole foods in norcal .. great find. pours a dark coppery gold w/ light carbonation. excellent floral hops aroma. thick and chewy with a ’cheese’ flavor that is quite delightful. big hops and strong bite. only complaint probably a little too high in alcohol which distorts the finish a bit too much to my taste. overall very tasty however.

Pours a clear and slightly pale gold with a small white head and great lacing. Wonderful aromas of tangerine and spruce. Smooth and clean with a fairly balanced flavor despite the amount of hops, touch of a bite on the tip of the tongue.

Rating #2200! Bottle @ Bruce’s. The pour’s amber with a tiny white head. The aroma’s bright, very grassy. Notes of caramel, strong maltiness. A bit or orange peel, marmalade. Sugary fruit candy. The taste is strong marmalade and orange sweetness. Woody, resinous hop bitterness. Quite jammy. Big beer, full body. Boozy. Overall, a pretty good beer. Nice stuff.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2013 Bottle at Bruce’s, London to celebrate Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina and his election as Pope Francis. Big thanks to Bruce for this one! Pours clear gold with a fine, creamy white head. Alcohol-soaked citrus fruits in the nose, orange, some light bread. Medium to big sweet flavor, moderate bitterness, some juicy pine, bit of boozy sting. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm, fairly boozy finish, moderate resins, orange and tangerine, a touch medicinal. Really, it’s a bit boozy overall.

Pours dark amber with a white head. Huge hop aroma. Tastes of pine and grapefruit. Very hop forward. The alcohol is noticeable but pretty well hidden considering it's 11%. Very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
