3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 9/20
May just be better than Pliny the younger. I have only had younger on tap so it would be hard to determine which is better since Simtra came from the bottle

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from James, glowing orange pour. Aromas and taste were very malty, bready, and boozey. Sweet malts, citrus, resinous pine. Bitter finish. This one was def past its prime but you can tell it would be amazing when fresh,

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours golden or copper with a fizzy diminishing head and some lacing. Aroma is strong, fragrant, with floral and citrus notes. Flavor is strong, hoppy, floral and citrusy; grapefruit with a little sweetness at the end. Crisp, but creamy at the end, with a long aftertaste at the back of the throat. A lot to take but really good. (10/18/12 Total Wine IPA tasting class w/brother-in-law Tony.)

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Nice big aroma with Citra and Simcoe coming forward. Pours a clear amber with a full white head. This... this is a hop bomb, a big blast of bitter hops with just enough caramel malt to make it drinkable. Long bitter finish, and an almost astringent dryness. If you do not like hops, stay away from this one, it comes close to Ruination territory.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ever so slightly hazy golden orange with a soapy white head. Skunky, catty hop aroma pours off this thing! Those follow right into the taste with a wicked, tongue numbing bitterness that’s just delicious. Just enough sweet caramel malt to balance it (as much as it can) and the body is surprisingly light for a beer of this strength. Grassy, vegetal flavors set in at this point and then finish with a bitter/sweet mix that’s really unique. Excellent hop bomb with awesome flavor!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle... Poured pale golden with a nice forming white head. Nose of intense hop notes. Quite fresh and green. Citrus and musk and earth from the hops. Borderline sweat (in a good way). Nice bitterness yet balanced. Grassy, bitter, resinous hops shine here. Easy drinking even for the higher abc.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650ml bottle from City Beer, San Francisco, CA
ABV: 11,25% -
Pours dark orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of super fresh fruity hops, caramely malts, hints of lemon, grapefruit and exotic fruits. Taste of citrusy and fruity hops, caramely malts, hints of lemon, grapefruit and exotic fruits. Finish is hoppy and malty with some caramely and lemony notes. Nice, quite hoppy and malty but still extremely well balanced IIPA.
