Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

Bomber from City Beer. Less than 2 weeks old. Hazy light orange pour, thin white head. Aroma is serious hop-overload: loads of dank mango, grapefruit and pineapple, bit of murky ganja, tangerine, peaches, pine resin. An assault. Taste bashes you all over with hops: all that dank tropical goodness matches up to the thick pine resin. Great pithy grapefruit melts your palate. So much mango comes through as it warms. More resin and pine needles. Very light smattering of caramel sweetness. Juicy grapefruit/um bongo juice finish, with earth shattering bitterness that becomes earthier and earthier. Crikey. This is a beast. YES.

The initial floral, citrusy aroma of this triple IPA had my mouth watering.

22 oz bottle courtesy of Blackwells in San Francisco. Hops, hops, hops. Tastes like Stone Ruination on steroids. Very tasty and a nice change of pace if you like triple IPAs. Not something I’d go out of my way to get though as there are so many similar tasting brews such as the aforementioned Stone Ruination.

Bottle to glass. Strong danky aroma. Some resin and pine. Small off white head. Reddish color. Rare is initially sweet followed by a punch of hop bitterness. Very drying, almost astringent finish. Way too much hop bitterness with too much residual sweetness. Sort of a mess. No real hop flavor, just obnoxious. Flavor is flat and one dimensional. ---Rated via intercellular device

Sampled at GABF. Pours a clear gold with some creamy, white head. Big nose, pithy, pine, chive, scallion, herbs. Flavor is similar, grassy, chive, scallion, citrus pith, pine. Zesty finish. Nice. Fresh. Surprisingly drinkable.

Wow what an intense blast of hops! Lots of resin in the palate. Tons of grapefruit and citrus, with a mild pine overnote. Overall, what a great beer!

Bottle pour a few months back. My first real attempt at a Triple Style IPA. I was blown away by the hoppiness and mellowed out grapefruit and pine flavors.

22 oz. bottle served in a . Bottled 7/22/13. Picked up on my recent trip to Lake Tahoe at a local bottle shop. A: Pours a solid amber color with a white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin, bubbly wring. Mild soapy lace. S: Candied grapefruit and honey dew melon up front with a touch of mango. Light boozy notes with a touch of sweet, crystallized sugar. Light scallion notes bounce in the periphery around the sweetness. T: Only mild booze up front. Very fruity and citrusy. Nice and strong malt backbone provides a little sweetness and breadines. The booze then kicks then back in on the finish. Definitely drinks like it’s 11%. As it warms some light grassy notes with a touch of residual bitterness lingers on the finish. M: Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation level. Slightly sticky. O: Far too boozy for my liking. I usually top out around 9.5% or 10% when it comes to my enjoyment of double (or in this case triple) IPA’s. The alcohol notes become to to sharp and boozy instead of nice and fruity. Not bad, but definitely wouldn’t pick this up again. Serving type: bottle 08-20-2013

Super hoppy brew with overwhelming pine and grapefruit notes. Not for the faint of heart, but worth it if you can handle it!
