COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

Bottle courtesy of my friend Noel. Hazy amber with a short white head. Aroma is hoppy with fruit notes, caramel and resins. Taste is hop resins, tropical fruit, caramel, sweet malt, floral notes, booze and grassy hops. Body is medium with a creamy carbonation and a slight syrupy feel. Lots of warmth as well. Ends with more caramel, sweet malt, floral hops, grass, citrus fruit and hop resins.

22oz bottle, purchased at BeerCraft. Pours a brilliantly clear, bright golden color; fine-bubbled white head with nice retention. Lots of pithy citrus here, quiet crystalline sugar and lightly warming ethanol, along with plenty of esters here: cotton candy, bubble gum, lots of fruit; seemingly fermented quite warm. Medium-full body; moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation; again, loads of warm-fermentation esters in this: bubble gum and cotton candy, lots of pithy grapefruit, firm bitterness; definitely more of a midsection than the hefty uber-IPAs I go for, but solid and tasty. Again, a whole lot oí esters. Lasting bitterness in the finish, bubble gum and sugar.

Bottle. Really good beer but not as hoppy for a beer that claims to be 130+ IBU. Expected more but still a very good beer.

Pours medium gold and transparent. Nice white head that fades quickly. No real lacing. Nice bright nose. Dank, pine, some booze, tangerine rind, floral, malt sugar, lemons, peaches. Relatively dry for the abv, which is still fairly sweet. Something about going over 10% abv seems to make every DIPA a bit too sticky. My main complaint is that the hop bitterness is a bit bland. Itís not bad, just lacks complexity compared to some similar DIPAs. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky but, again, good for the abv. Medium to low carbonation. Lasting bitter finish. Good stuff. It could use a bit more hop complexity on the palate, but the nose works very well, and itís quite good for the abv. Iím just not sure that I like when DIPAs go above 9% abv. Edit 1/20/13: Raised scores a bit after having had it a few more times. In particular, Iím getting a bit more hop flavor in the taste than I remember from my review bottle.

Recklessly sharp. Inundated in piney, bombastic hoppiness that sands your taste buds, this IPA plays horseshoes with your ability to judge the most fleeting of notes. Not for beginners.

Bottle @Bruceís, thanks to the main man himself. It pours clear orange with a small white head. The nose is soft tangerine, orange, alcohol, mango, passion fruit and a touch of barnyard. The taste is bitter pine, orange, tangerine, sticky, booze, viscous, resinous and orange liqueur with a dry, rather bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and cloying mouth-feel. Brash and boozy!

Bomber poured into tulip glass. Clear, pale amber with small white head. Nose is great - citrus, pine, grass. Flavor is slightly dank, follows the nose with a bitter finish. Strong, very good.

Wow! This beer is hoppy, tasty, and smooth. The ability to make a beer taste this good at over 11% ABV is impressive =)

Powerful skunky sulfuric hops explode out of the glass upon pouring. The beer is beautifully clear with a big bright white head. On the palate, the bitterness is aggressive and then a syrupy sweet note comes in to balance it out. Points off for the fact that the finish was so sticky and cloying. Otherwise pretty solid.

DocJitsu (1140) - Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a clear, deep golden color with a foamy, eggshell colored head that has just the faintest green hue. Rich bouquet of big pine, lemon zest, mown grass, and, occasionally emerging sweet citrus. Moutfheel is light- to medium-bodied, soft, and wet, but mildly hot from the hop alpha acid. Alcohol is present, but not uncomplimentary. Tangy flavors of pine and pink grapefruit. A bit of unseasoned beef jerky sweetness comes through as well. Very reminiscent of Pliny the Younger for those of you who canít make it to Santa Rosa every February to stand in line for four to five hours.
