4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Medium amber color with a cream colored head. Aroma is grapefruit and resinous hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with resinous hops and a good amount of pepperiness and some heat from the alcohol on the finish. Medium bodied and slightly dry. Overall a very nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle-purchased at Lone Hill Liquors in Gendora, CA-pours bright orange clear with a nice soapy white head with sparse lacing from time to time. nose is huge citrus, floral, lite dank notes, just a hop explosion as one would come to expect from this big of a IIPA. Flavors have a boatload of hop flavors-citrus, pineapple, however a huge alcohol burning feeling tends to make this beer not as good as others in its ilk (hoptimum comes to mind-yet a little head, not as hot as this one). This one burns all the way down the throat! huge fussel alcohol finish with lingering bitterness from the onslaught of 130 IBUís. man, this has alot of character however, its really hot. If the heat was turned down, you would have a contender for at least top 20 in this style. glad i picked this one up though because its a bit on the rare side.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2012 22 ounce bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe, but I had this several times super fresh during Sacramento Beer Week a few months ago, and LOVED this beer. Ahh, the aroma on this is just as I remember. TONS of citrus, passionfruit, mango goodness. Thereís a little mandarin orange and some dank cattiness, too. Super aroma. Unfortunately, there is slight ethanol detected retronasally. Transparent copper body with a medium off-yellowish head present. Starts sharply bitter, with citrus grapefruit, followed by a piney resinous hoppiness. A little more dank comes through, with a bitter, dry, finish. This is warming and a touch hot, but this beer is still a world-class example of the 10%+ IIPA. Right up there with Younger and Hoptimum, IMO.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear, orange color & big, white head. Good lacing. Nice nose of fruity hops- mango, peach. A balance of fruity & bitter hops, w/ a malt backbone, esp as it warmed. Oily, slick mouthfeel, but not overly thick. Considering itís over 10%, too! Solid, big IPA.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber Bottle. Pours orange amber, white head. Hop forward aroma - citrusy. Taste is hop bitter and a bit of malt. Hop finish. All around decent hop bomb, hides the alcohol well

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz. bottle. It pours a nice clear deep golden orange color with a nice white head. Very pretty looking. The aroma is pretty potent with spicy hops, tropical fruit, and freshly cut onions. Thereís some hints of caramel in the background. The flavor is very oniony with some garlic, tropical fruit and some caramel maltiness, but it finishes pretty dry. The malt character while strong, does not detract from the massive hop assault. In fact, this beer showcases the simcoe and citra hops extremely well. You really get the sense of both. The body is a bit on the thick side, but you would expect as much from an IIPA over 10%. The finish is a bit spicy. I enjoyed this one a lot.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle at Atlas Bistro and purchased next door at AZ Wine. Pours a copper color with an eggshell head. Aroma has both piney, resiny dank hops, but it also has a great tropical fruit component thanks to the Citra. Taste is sweet with some nice bitterness. This was a pretty good DIPA and one that drank pretty easy considering the ABV. It is quite pricey though, and that would prevent me from buying more especially when we have so many great IPAs/DIPAs around.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. A copper orange color with a laced white head. A huge aroma of hoppy goodness. It reminds me of the younger. It drips with liquid hops. Rich and smooth with a great finish and not an overpowering bite. An excellent DPIA.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
DH did this with their 90... Iíd rather have that than this. This reminds me of DHís 90 so thatís why I mention it: Had it awhile ago, talked about it with a friend at a bar. Anyway, I like this less than that. So, Iíll focus on whatís negative: Thereís alcohol in the aroma, the mouthfeel is too thick and juicy -- I want more liveliness. There isnít much complexity, actually. I bet this would be better as a single IPA. If youíre going to go big, might as well do more with it especially when alcohol appears throughout; or thereís kind of an overall hint of oily garbage to it thatís in and out. Meh. Leaning-towards-good ale so Iíll pass... Out, if I continue (it kicking my ass I think kicks the rating up)!
