Good looking. Big grapefruit nose, Resiny flavors of citrus and pine with strong malt backbone. Some spicy burn in the finish. Well balanced DIPA. Flavors blend so well they lack some definition. But, its a great one.

Poured from the bottle it has a honey amber color with a medium head. There is citrus exploding from the glass with some floral notes. Taste is a hop bomb. You can taste all of the 130 IBU. There is some malt and resin and a touch of fruit. Long bitter finish.

Strong balsam aroma, dominant grapefruit flavor with hints of balsam. Much more citrus-forward than the Hoptologist.

This poured a darker orange color with a beige head. Aroma was lots of fruity citrusy hops and some toasted malt in there as welll. Flavor was nice fruity hops, not, very very bitter and some unfortunately maltiiness too. Very Good but not great.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark golden with a craggy off-white head and a sharp grapefruit aroma. There is a hearty malt and coffee flavor that starts sweet and quickly turns very bitter . Lots of flavor.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Orange in colour with medium cabronation. Pungent aromas of spicy/fruits-sweet Citra hops, cut grass, gooseberry, pale malt, and resin. Pale malt sweetness in the mouth, but still super dank and hoppy with more cut grass, resin, and sweet citrus notes. Medium bitterness. Overall, the hop level is fantastic, but I can’t help but think it would have been better with less malt and alcohol.

Triple IPAs can be hit and miss. Knee deep went with simcoe and citra, a good choice to combat the thick maltiness.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Deep amber color with a very small off white head. Great aroma thick with hop resin, pink grapefruit juice, and peach cobbler. Nice chewy mouthfeel. Lots of pinching citrus hops, ruby red grapefruit juice,, pineapple, apricot jam, and hop resin flavors all coated on a thick slice of home made bread. Sticky on the lips. The alcohol becomes more prominent as it warms. Great DIPA.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
Acquired in a trade. Enjoyed in a Hill Farmstead glass slightly above fridge temp. It became nicer as it warmed up.
A - Burnt golden orange. 1 finger head that faded to a small ring. No lacing at all.
S - Intense on the nose. Caramel, brown sugar, burnt oak and grapefruits.
T - Whoa. Up front malts that are power the palate. No more of these IMperial IPAs. Too intense. Finish is light floral, grapefruit and yeah, the Citra dominates
M - 25% carbonation, heavy body. Intense bitterness at the finish. Sticks around for a long time.
O - Yeah, I’ve been drinking a lot of Imperial IPAs lately. They’re far too malty and unbalanced. ugh.
