Beautiful pour of deep yellow-ish gold with a faint white head. Nose is citrus and hops, crisp and bitter. Flavor follows beautifully with plenty of grass notes and bitterness. Really impressive. Great lighter body with mild lacing. Really enjoyable all around.

Poured a golden orange with a smallish ½-finger, white head which dissipates to a coating. Carbonation is evident.
Nose is tropical fruit, especially pineapple, mango, oranges, and lemon. For a beer this big I expected to have a nose full of alcohol too but it wasn’t there.
Taste is a bitter wallop giving way to Grapefruit and pine. There is some carmel that comes in as well as grassiness and malt but the dryness and bitterness remains throughout. There is the alcohol I expected, in a nice warming in the middle that lasts through the finish. Still, this IS a tongue-buckler foremost, and the mouthfeel is medium, crisp and bitter to fit.
All-in-all, I found it refreshing and would have at it again, given the chance but I still love big DIPA’s that are a little better balanced.

Simcoe and Citra: my two favorite hops! Pours a very hazy ruby orange color with a half finger off white head. Smells of sweet, juicy grapefruit, lots of papaya, mango, pine, fruit punch, almost like a perfume floral smell. Little bit of breadiness in the back but over taken by the hop qualities. Taste starts with the mellower fruits like papaya, mango, pineapple from the citra. Then in the middle you get a carmel flavor, as well as a biscuity note. Also some of the more astringency notes start to creep in like grapefruit and pine from the simcoe. Then the finish is more of the carmel malt, pine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, papaya, mango. Just a symphony of flavors. The finish lasts and a bitter grapefruit and lemon flavor is the last to go. Just enough malt to just cut some of the bitterness from the massive amounts of hops. Definitely do get booze on the finish as well, but that is expected at almost 12%. Gets much better as it warms and the fruity flavors of the hops definitely do come out when it does. Pretty full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a creamy, yet oily mouthfeel from the hops. Would love to get my hands on more of this!

Cask. SF Beer Week event. Aroma is super boozy with hops and a little sweet. Almost no head which disappeared quickly. Citrus taste with surprisingly mild bitter and malts foundation. Creamy on the palate. Overall kinda a weird experience.

Aroma is full of citra aroma and a certain dankness that hits the nostrils. The appearance is a wonderful golden/orange color that has a small head that linger for a short time then goes away leaving lacing on top of the beer and on the glass. The taste is not quite as good as the aroma and appearance. My first thought is that in order to reach this alcohol content they left some hops in the fermenter for too long and it gives off a grassy note that is not very flattering for a beer with citra in it. It is a good beer but the off notes in the finish keep it from being a favorite. I actually prefer hoptologist from them to this beer.

A finger of head on a clear, deep amber colored body.
The aroma is a wonderful lemon, grapefruit and bold pine; like you’re crushing the hops in your fingers.
The taste has a great big lemon bitterness that is perfectly balanced by the bold malt sweetness. Lots of pine too.
Great smooth texture with moderate carbonation.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours a deep, clear gold with a sticky white head. Nose is citrusy and resiny with a sharp ethanol note as well. Huge and boozy nose. Some butterscotch. On tasting, more of the same. Boozy and hot, warming. Big bitterness and citrus on finish. butterscotch. Wow, a huge let down.
