4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Simcoe and Citra: my two favorite hops! Pours a very hazy ruby orange color with a half finger off white head. Smells of sweet, juicy grapefruit, lots of papaya, mango, pine, fruit punch, almost like a perfume floral smell. Little bit of breadiness in the back but over taken by the hop qualities. Taste starts with the mellower fruits like papaya, mango, pineapple from the citra. Then in the middle you get a carmel flavor, as well as a biscuity note. Also some of the more astringency notes start to creep in like grapefruit and pine from the simcoe. Then the finish is more of the carmel malt, pine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, papaya, mango. Just a symphony of flavors. The finish lasts and a bitter grapefruit and lemon flavor is the last to go. Just enough malt to just cut some of the bitterness from the massive amounts of hops. Definitely do get booze on the finish as well, but that is expected at almost 12%. Gets much better as it warms and the fruity flavors of the hops definitely do come out when it does. Pretty full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a creamy, yet oily mouthfeel from the hops. Would love to get my hands on more of this!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 20/20
One of my first from the brewery. This one pours a dirty penny color with maybe a slight orange hint. A big off white head on an easy pour. A huge hop aroma. Like swimming through a floral hop field. A fresh potent aroma. A strong hop flavor right off the bat. Almost minty. It leaves a giant hop flavor on the whole mouth. Not boozy exactly. But an overall strength is present. Still has a certain drinkable quality. An almost rubbing alcohol note is felt all around. Still a refreshing nice and strong triple.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: clear, dull medium deep honey, with moderate head and ok lace.very hoppy lift. Tropical, citrus and vegetation. Clean. Dense. Not green or reductive. Dry, not sour but bitter. Massive. Dense long and hot. Just a bruit. Classic over the top west coast IPA. Huge. This beer is one to share.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh).
Poured a nice amber. Strong aroma - stronger taste. This is an 11.5% beer that has a very strong flavor, but that taste is not of alcohol. Definitely worth getting again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Pint mug
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 10, 2014
Consumed: July 18, 2014
Misc.: Born on May 20, 2014
Poured a honey, caramel, semi-clear color with two fingers of rocky white head. Sporadic spider web foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Above average retention on the top all the way down.
Smelled a plethora of hops up front. Got grapefruit, citrus, Cascade, floral, orange rind and light resin. Also some rye, caramel and orange creamscickle.
Tasted pretty close to the smell. Got citrus hops, Cascade hops, orange creamscickle, floral hops, grapefruit, nectarine and caramel. Some bitterness, but the 11.25 percent ABV felt about 7 percent.
Medium-to-light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly bitter finish.
Just a fantastic double IPA. I’ve wanted to try it for a while and I’m glad I finally did.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2014 Bomber received in trade. Thank you StefanSD! Pours hazy golden with a rather small frothy offwhite head that leaves lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, tiny fruity and tiny herbal with caramel, sweet dark bread, resinous wood, pine needles, moist grass, grapefruit rinds, orange peal and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and herbal with caramel, sweet dark bread, biscuits, resinous wood, pine needles, lemon balm, grapefruit juice, orange peal, moist grass and hints of metal. Mouthfeel is round, tiny sticky sweet, oily bitter, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and herbal with caramel, toffee, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, resinous wood, moist grass, orange peal, lemon zest and alcohol. Less than 3 months old but very sticky. Tasty US style barley wine, only the slight metal notes drags it down.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650ml bottle. Bottled in April so about as fresh as an import to Europe is going to be. Pours a hazy shade between gold and amber with a lovely white head and lace. Nose is bursting with peach fruitiness and grassy notes. More citra than simcoe perhaps. Opening with some fruity sweetness before bitterness takes hold. Hint of herbalness. Really doesn’t feel like nearly 12%. Solid stuff without being overwhelming.
