Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

Bottle pour orangey yellow. Hops hops and more hops. Form the instant you open the bottle you can smell the hops. A little citrus but primary pine and evergreen hop nose. Grapefruit bitterness with the evergreen hop flavors pervasive. Some balancing sweetness. Hides the high alcohol content vey well. I really like is beer.

22 oz bottle from Blackwell’s. Pours a slightly hazy soft orange color with white head that gradually fades to a thin wisp with lacing. Aroma is sweet fruit with dank hops and citrus sweetness, particularly grapefruit. Flavor is sweet malt with dank bitterness as an afterthought. Alcohol is very prominent, and slightly distracting from an otherwise enjoyable flavor profile. Thin to medium bodied with full, bright carbonation. Sweet complex finish.

The beer is a murky yellow / orange with a soapy white head. Aromas of dank hops, resin, alcohol, pine. Sticky and sweet. Like sucking on a hopsicle. See what I did there? Aww yeah. Full bodied and palate coating. Certainly hop forward, but there is definitely a strong malt bill and noticeably above 10% abv. Full flavored. One could get f’d up right quick sippin’ on Simtra. Tasty.

Poured into IPA glass from bottle. Hazy golden color. Aromas of spice, various fruit, pine, and oak. Flavors of the same plus caramel, molasses, and plantains. Initially sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Dangerously smooth for 11.25%. Well done.

Flaske: Orange klar øl med et flot skumhoved. Duft af humle, tropisk frugt og citrus. Smagen er frisk selvom den indeholder et dejligt alkobid. Super lækker øl.

22oz bottle thanks to Matt. Pours out a nice golden topped with a small head. Nose is pine citrus hops tropical fruit and caramel sweetness. Taste is as the nose with a great hop mix and a good malt to balance it out.

One of my first from the brewery. This one pours a dirty penny color with maybe a slight orange hint. A big off white head on an easy pour. A huge hop aroma. Like swimming through a floral hop field. A fresh potent aroma. A strong hop flavor right off the bat. Almost minty. It leaves a giant hop flavor on the whole mouth. Not boozy exactly. But an overall strength is present. Still has a certain drinkable quality. An almost rubbing alcohol note is felt all around. Still a refreshing nice and strong triple.

Bottle: clear, dull medium deep honey, with moderate head and ok lace.very hoppy lift. Tropical, citrus and vegetation. Clean. Dense. Not green or reductive. Dry, not sour but bitter. Massive. Dense long and hot. Just a bruit. Classic over the top west coast IPA. Huge. This beer is one to share.

On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh). Poured a nice amber. Strong aroma - stronger taste. This is an 11.5% beer that has a very strong flavor, but that taste is not of alcohol. Definitely worth getting again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: Pint mug From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif. Price: $10.99 Purchased: July 10, 2014 Consumed: July 18, 2014 Misc.: Born on May 20, 2014 Poured a honey, caramel, semi-clear color with two fingers of rocky white head. Sporadic spider web foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Above average retention on the top all the way down. Smelled a plethora of hops up front. Got grapefruit, citrus, Cascade, floral, orange rind and light resin. Also some rye, caramel and orange creamscickle. Tasted pretty close to the smell. Got citrus hops, Cascade hops, orange creamscickle, floral hops, grapefruit, nectarine and caramel. Some bitterness, but the 11.25 percent ABV felt about 7 percent. Medium-to-light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly bitter finish. Just a fantastic double IPA. I’ve wanted to try it for a while and I’m glad I finally did.
