3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle, $11.99, no date from OB Quik Stop--hopefully this is a new batch, and not just leftovers from the distributor. We shall see. Clear medium orange with a one finger off-white head, fair retention. Aroma of bitter orange rind and cat pee, light lemon (not in the Sorachi Ace way, but the Citra) and herbal dry hops. There is a little crystal malt in the backend, but doesn’t seem sweet. I don’t get much pine in the aroma, but it does come forth more in the flavor. I get some alcohol warmth and spice, mild sweetness and lightly toasty cracker malt. Dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 7, the alcohol numbing the tongue. Big full body, though not yet syrupy, with low to moderate carbonation. Better than I thought it’d be--the hops aren’t quite super bright and juicy (though close), but the sweetness is right where it should be for a >10% beer.

Cloudy, copper-hued, juicy sweet grapefruit and hops resin. The palate is sticky, moderate, and the carbonation just right I love this beer! I love this beer. Thank you again, Knee Deep!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Piney, hoppy, and a bit boozy but the flavor is there to match the alcohol. Highly recommended

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bomber a nice hazy, golden hay hue. Aroma is citrus, orange zest, grapefruit, tropical fruits, pine resin, crystal malt, simcoe and citra hops. The flavour is pleasingly hoppy, creating a sweet orange hard candy sensation along side of resiny pine bitterness, along with a particular field grass hint. Midway the bitterness really ramps up and into the finish it gives way to hints of biscuit malts and caramel malts. An excellent beer with a serious punch.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep amber into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Alcohol, resin and tropical fruit aromas. Hot caramel and mild resin front to back. Lasting alcohol finish.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
"this one’s been winning awards left and right, and i can see why. reminiscent of a Maharaja. aroma of weed, citrus, a touch of pine and a good dose of tropical fruit. flavor the same with an ample dose of bitterness and a nice, fairly clean bittersweet finish. medium bodied and a touch sticky. quite good. i wish i could count on their beer being fresh. This score reflects fresh only. Dated bottles as of 1/13."

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing an orangey gold color, with a decent layer of off white head foam, and spots & streaks of lacing. The nose was stinky, dankness, and greenery, with esters & resin that took a distant back seat, and a touch of sweet grain to totally confuse me. Medium+ bodied, with good carbonation, the taste showed a little more fruit as citrus & some tropical hints, a pronounced hop bitterness, some malt sweetness to temper, and a boozy alcohol presence. Roughed up a bit, but I’ll heal.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: Draft at Morrison’s, 9/22/14
Aroma: It has a big juicy hop aroma of grapefruit, resin, pine, and some sweet caramel
Appearance: It pours a dark golden color with a fairly thick head and heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is big as well, similar to the nose, a little sweet, but with a big bitterness
Palate: The body is full, it gets a little sticky, with a smooth, creamy feel, and a dry finish
This is a really nice one. Very hop-forward, with a enough sweetness to keep it from being one-dimensional. This is a nicely made beer.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is a big beer. Not boozy at all. Dank hop flavor dominated with citrus. Little bit of a malt body sweetness, but the hops take the stage here. Mango and tropical flavors, highly recommended.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2014 22 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City, NC (bottled July 2, 2014). Murky dark orange pour with a frothy/creamy off-white head. Enticing aroma of fresh pine, grapefruit rind, and wet grass. As psyched as I was from the aroma the taste is a bit of a letdown as the alcohol is a bit too prevalent. Still there is plenty of hop bitterness with juicy grapefruit and pine needles notably making their presence known. Very good beer, but with less of an alcohol presence this would be incredible.
