3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle
I am not sure why but this release did not resonate with me at all. It was a fair deal - enough that I am willing to try more of their lineup - but not remarkable. Given the choice I would gone with a four pack of Headhunter instead. Still, maybe it was a bad bottle which means eventually I will need to revisit it.
Aroma / Appearance - The coppery transparent base bubbles and sparkles. An icy white head looks like a fresh dusting of overnight snow. Pine cones, mangoes, grapefruit, and other flavors are sharp. Even so I somehow found it hard to get excited. It wasn’t off but I can’t put my finger on the reason.
Flavor / Palate - Mangoes and pine trees warm the throat immediately. A dry bitterness is harsh on the palate. For $6.99 this is a full bodied and robust beer from a brewery that wasn’t on my radar until now. Maybe this summer when it is too hot for the stouts I’ll get some more of their releases.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a one finger frothy white head that quickly settles into a lasting film/ring. Sporadic streaks of lace left behind.
Dank earthy hop aroma with fresh cut grass, earthy pine and resinous oils countered by subtle citrus/tropical fruit and a pale malt backbone. Pine needle, spruce tip, floral buds and grass countered by strong grapefruit, pineapple, blood orange, melon and lemon peel sweetness. Pale malts with faint bread, biscuit and cracker. Nice balance with juicier fruit notes countering the earthy resins.
Full body with a blast of dry, dank earthy bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes and pale malt character into a bone dry finish. Dry and sticky with resinous oils and pine needle. Slightly spicy with grass, spruce tips and dank leaf. Very bitter but the bitterness is countered by prominent fruit sweetness. Hints of melon and grapefruit with pineapple, lemon pith and blood orange. Pale malt backbone with subtle caramel and toffee sweetness along with bread, biscuit and grainy graham cracker. Some boozy sweetness and a bit of heat in the finish but the high ABV is pretty well masked. Alcohol presence takes away slightly from the hop flavors but it’s still deceptively drinkable at 11.5%.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
22FL OZ ($8.99) this was a truly epic IPA, I’ve been searching for something like this and here it is. over the top in IBUs and ABV it is a beast. if you’re loving your IPAs and have maxed out and need to raise the bar here it is. if you’re a newbie to beer drinking or if you enjoy something like shock top this will absolutely destroy you.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Golden and moderately frothy. This has a big, west-coast, wet-hop aroma and character, like sucky on hop mush. The viscosity is evident, as is the gravity. (#6056, 11/1/2015)

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz. bottle purchased at One Stop Market, again this brewery with no date coding. The Aroma is sticky weed, dankness, and light cat piss.
The base has a huge grain bill. Caramel, sweet bread and from all that malt come a boozy alcohol presence. The body is medium plus, with good carbonation level. The flavor has a trace of cat piss with tropical fruit and grass. The malt and booze really kill the hops. Actually really too sweet to enjoy a lot. Texture is sticky sweet… not my thing here.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Was happy for Orion to get this for me and share it with him. I like these hops and had high expectations, which weren’t met, and i think i had a similar let down with a couple other knee deeps. so many fine beers being made. Musky aroma with lemon and caramel, good mouth feel, the carbonation and a little oily. mild finish. flavor of toast, caramel, alcohol.
