3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle
I am not sure why but this release did not resonate with me at all. It was a fair deal - enough that I am willing to try more of their lineup - but not remarkable. Given the choice I would gone with a four pack of Headhunter instead. Still, maybe it was a bad bottle which means eventually I will need to revisit it.
Aroma / Appearance - The coppery transparent base bubbles and sparkles. An icy white head looks like a fresh dusting of overnight snow. Pine cones, mangoes, grapefruit, and other flavors are sharp. Even so I somehow found it hard to get excited. It wasnít off but I canít put my finger on the reason.
Flavor / Palate - Mangoes and pine trees warm the throat immediately. A dry bitterness is harsh on the palate. For $6.99 this is a full bodied and robust beer from a brewery that wasnít on my radar until now. Maybe this summer when it is too hot for the stouts Iíll get some more of their releases.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is a big beer. Not boozy at all. Dank hop flavor dominated with citrus. Little bit of a malt body sweetness, but the hops take the stage here. Mango and tropical flavors, highly recommended.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City, NC (bottled July 2, 2014). Murky dark orange pour with a frothy/creamy off-white head. Enticing aroma of fresh pine, grapefruit rind, and wet grass. As psyched as I was from the aroma the taste is a bit of a letdown as the alcohol is a bit too prevalent. Still there is plenty of hop bitterness with juicy grapefruit and pine needles notably making there presence known. Very good beer, but with less of an alcohol presence this would be incredible.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a light and clear gold. Has an extremely strong floral hop aroma. A very strong flavor of floral, citrus, spices, and hops. A strong bitter and dry aftertaste. An amazing beer!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle looks from the date to be six weeks old now. Pour has a deep golden color and a thin coating of off white head that retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has big crushing hops, bitterness, resins, citrus, and a sticky malted core. This is so juiced up it is in barley wine territory. Mouth feel coats well and is medium with medium low carbonation. Flavor again has an insane quantity of hops, resins. creeping bitterness, hefty sweet malts, and citrus. This gets to be almost thick from the hops more than from the malts. Definitely a very filtered beer as there is not any sediment in the bottom and I personally enjoyed the double more than this triple.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Bottledog, Kingís Cross, London. Cloudy orange with slim white head. Lovely aroma of citrus aroma, pineapple. Taste doesnít. Disappoint, citrus orange, resin, sweet malts, well hid alcohol, with a touch of warmth on the way down. Medium bodied, nice bitterness throughout, with long bitter finish. Excellent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Semi-opaque Spalding orange in glass with sudsy white head. Pine and dank citrus dominate the perfume. An unexpectedly chocolaty undertone. Maybe roasted malt. High ABV is on display before this hits your lips. Medium bodied. An insulting amounts of pine resin and tropic hops, backed by pro forma caramel malts. More booze. Flavor packed, but to what end. Could use more direction, but no regrets.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Thanks, Doug. Hazy amber & orange with a foamy, gray tinted head. Aroma of sticky, juicy citrus. Big-time orange flesh, candied grapefruit, grass, & residual sugar. Large caramel malt presence; more sweet than bitter on the nose. Lots of grapefruit rind in the flavor, starting with some bitter pine-cone, floral notes, & resinous herbal tones. But the latter half quickly transitions into a more malt-heavy sweetness. Caramel, toffee, even some residual brown sugars. Crystal malt. Sticky. Loses lots of the fruity pungency of the aroma. Strange gradient from almost abrasively bitter to overly sweet in the flavor. Despite that, I donít hate this. Actually, itís not that bad at all. The nice aroma wins back some points... But I think it is vastly overrated.
