3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle
I am not sure why but this release did not resonate with me at all. It was a fair deal - enough that I am willing to try more of their lineup - but not remarkable. Given the choice I would gone with a four pack of Headhunter instead. Still, maybe it was a bad bottle which means eventually I will need to revisit it.
Aroma / Appearance - The coppery transparent base bubbles and sparkles. An icy white head looks like a fresh dusting of overnight snow. Pine cones, mangoes, grapefruit, and other flavors are sharp. Even so I somehow found it hard to get excited. It wasn’t off but I can’t put my finger on the reason.
Flavor / Palate - Mangoes and pine trees warm the throat immediately. A dry bitterness is harsh on the palate. For $6.99 this is a full bodied and robust beer from a brewery that wasn’t on my radar until now. Maybe this summer when it is too hot for the stouts I’ll get some more of their releases.

Super bright and light colored for the malt presence. Well balanced and hidden ABV. Beautiful mouthfeel. Pine, cat pee, all that’s good in an IPA. Tasted at 45°F.

Bombers from Capone’s and Whole Foods. Pours clear straw with off-white head. Nose is big resiny hops, citrus, grapefruit, black pepper. Tastes rich, with heavy caramel malt, piney hops, tangerine, pineapple, and some late warming heat. This one is excellent.

Sharing. Very strong hoppy aroma with strong bitterness. Stunning. Some sweetness there too. The flavour is strong sweet and bitter hops. Wow! Great

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
God sized offwhite head of fine bubbles with light carbonation. Nice hoppy arome with some ripe oranges, sweet malts, some pine and crusty fresh bread. Color is a cloudy pale orange. Wow, big alcohol presence up front and long after the swallow. Warms the whole way down. Moderate malts and sweetness to offset the huge hops presence and bitterness. More pine, roasted red peanut skins, toasted grains and popcorn. A bit unbalanced but in a good way. Lingering grapefruit pith and cough syrup. A pretty good IIPA but a bit over the top on abv makes this brew a bit harsh.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
11.25%ABV. Triple IPA.
Tapped out a hazy golden amber. 8ºSRM.
Nose has some very enticing ripe tropical fruit sweetness. Over ripe pineapples, mangoes and pomelo come to mind.
Mouthfeel is soapy and ponderous. There are some nice roasted malty flavors which begin with rich malty sweet bolstered by a rich slightly buttery backbone that brings along flavors of butterscotch and toffee.
The finish is made very special by the high alcoholic content the fumes accentuating the acerbic bitterness of the hyssop-like finish. There is fresh, dark green pine, fir needles and some beautiful fresh hay richness to the herbaceously refreshing and aggressive hop finish.
Very very nicely done. The bold malty character and the agressive happiness that suggests smoke, make this like tasting a nice Speyside single malt.

On tap @ the Rockhouse with the kids eating cupcakes. Pours a clear orange with a small white head - smells yummy...like a west coast IPA - although it is an IIIPA. Pine, citrus - with a caramel backbone. Thin and lightly carbonated. This easily tastes like a beer that is 7ish% but it is 11.25%! Not sure which one is better...this one or Lupulin River (8% IIPA) by the same brewery. They both taste very similar, West Coast Cali Single/Double/Triple IPA lovers this is a must try. I’ve seen it at Whole Foods in a bomber...buy it.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is one of my favorite beers. It has a sweet smell and very hoppy flavor . I like that this beer has a smooth hoppy flavor without much of a after bite . It's high alcohol content (11.25%) makes it more of a slow relaxing drink with amazing flavor .

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a one finger frothy white head that quickly settles into a lasting film/ring. Sporadic streaks of lace left behind.
Dank earthy hop aroma with fresh cut grass, earthy pine and resinous oils countered by subtle citrus/tropical fruit and a pale malt backbone. Pine needle, spruce tip, floral buds and grass countered by strong grapefruit, pineapple, blood orange, melon and lemon peel sweetness. Pale malts with faint bread, biscuit and cracker. Nice balance with juicier fruit notes countering the earthy resins.
Full body with a blast of dry, dank earthy bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes and pale malt character into a bone dry finish. Dry and sticky with resinous oils and pine needle. Slightly spicy with grass, spruce tips and dank leaf. Very bitter but the bitterness is countered by prominent fruit sweetness. Hints of melon and grapefruit with pineapple, lemon pith and blood orange. Pale malt backbone with subtle caramel and toffee sweetness along with bread, biscuit and grainy graham cracker. Some boozy sweetness and a bit of heat in the finish but the high ABV is pretty well masked. Alcohol presence takes away slightly from the hop flavors but it’s still deceptively drinkable at 11.5%.
