3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Pours a clear deep golden color with a quickly dissipating white foam. The hop varieties lend an interesting aroma with notes of orange and grapefruit citrus with biscuit, pine and rumcake. Delicious flavor slammed with bitterness and a strong malt backbone. Pine resin and pepper all over. Really good but the alcohol comes in and wrecks the palate. Takes away the clean finish that only a very few know how to perfect in the West Coast i.e. California style (see Alpine, RR etc). Overall really tasty. Youll feel this one in the head fo sho.

Poured from a bottle. Deep gold. Frothy, white head. Very clear. Big citrus aroma. A little bitter to start followed by some pineapple(?). Alcohol is not very apparent in the taste.

@Basunen: en fantastisk stor doft ca ananas. Smaken är mycket trevlig och fruktig. Fin humle om inte kanske något rå. Mycket god.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Good night.....this is delicious! Aroma is floral and grassy with sweet buttery notes. Taste is floral and buttery maltiness upfront with some dank, piney citrus hitting you mid-palate. The aftertaste is lingering piney spruce hops with some grapefruit bitterness and a touch of sweet malt to balance it out. There is a touch of alcohol warming as it lingers in the follow through. The palate is silky smooth. Overall this beer is ridiculously good.....not sure why it is not in the top of most peopleís lists. I have not rated in a while, but this was so good that I had to give it props. The bottle says 11.25% alcohol and 131 IBU......I am definitely feeling that alcohol in the last few sips, but the 131 IBUís are very well hidden by the buttery malty sweetness to balance it out. I have had many "triple" IPAís, but this is the best by far!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Grabbed a bomber first thing when I arrived in Yountville at the little market here. Wine schmine, amirite? Poured in a wine glass to fit in. Bottled 2/19/14, had 3/1/14. freshy fresh. Anyway, pours a beautiful clear golden color with a creamy white half finger head on top. Bursting aroma of pine, citrus, floral notes, honey and malt sweetness. Flavor is hop candy, grapefruits and pineapple galore, some pine, sweet malts backing this one. Surprisingly smooth for 130+ IBU, and just delicious. Big slick resinous mouthfeel with medium carbonation. While pretty drinkable this one is on the hefty side as expected. Lots going on in this one and glad I finally got to try it. Now on to the wine...

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
My 1st review here. A coworker who is a fellow hop head turned me on to the Simtra so I went down to my favorite liquor store and bought a bomber.. $10.99 for a 22ozer.
Poured in a snifter glass bottled on 1/18/14
Aggressive pour with a 1-1/2" head. Beautiful amber/dark orange coloring with good carbonation. Wow, this looks amazing, can I drink this already??
Aroma is not what I expected... Heavy grapefruit/tangerine mixed with some dank hoppiness and a peach/mild papaya follow through. Astringency is present. Smells like I could put this in a spray bottle to clean my stove but that would be a waste of a great beer..
Taste is very bitter up front, hop forward with fruity undertones. Once again, very astringent.. bitter. Just enough bready/maltiness to mask the 11.25% ABV but I feel the warmness in my neck and chest, and it makes me wish I was drinking this beer in a ski lodge in between runs.. Make no mistake this is a potent beer for sure..
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth. In a blind taste test you would not guess that itís over 11% ABV but after finishing a bomber you would feel it.. Very drinkable for the high ABV.. After every sip you are left with a bitter taste on your tongue that can only be quenched with another sip..
Overall Iím very impressed with this beer. I would not put this in the same class as Pliny the Elder/Enjoy By/Etc.. but this is a "must try" for any DIPA lover..

Dark orange-amber, large off-white head, soapy lacing. Grapefruit, resin, pine and a decent amount of pale and caramel malts. Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation, assertive bitterness. Big and burly.

Sample at The Bistro DIPA-Festival, February 8. (my first one from this brewery)
Clear golden with a white head. Really bitter with grapefruit, some mango and grass. The finish was dry and bitter.
