deep dark amber pour, 2+ fingers of tan head. Nose is vanilla and caramel. Bittersweet. Middle is chocolate, some nuts, and vanilla bean driving the coach. Finish is bittersweet and smooth.

From notes. Enjoyed at Dougís house on July 04 for the first beer Iíve brewed with him! 22 oz bottle. Finally got to open this damn thing. There was so much hope, and even more disappointment. The pour is a thin dirty dark brown color with a light tan colored film of head and no lace. The aroma is light on the vanilla. There is a strong sweetness to it, and a light dark roasted malt. Iím disappointed by the light vanilla and abundance of lactic sweetness. The flavor is just as sweet. There is a light chocolate with the roast, but itís just forced, light, and obviously fake. The finish is really dry. The mouth feel is thin and watery with a lack of decent carbonation and a dry, roasty, forced cocoa on the finish. The vanilla isnít even lingering. Ugh.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized fluffy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was roasty and bitter with floral hops and imitation vanilla. The flavor was bitter and harsh with imitation vanilla, cream, a bit of cocoa and fairly strong floral hops. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

On tap at Brewski. A dark brew with a thin tan head. A bit of vanilla in the aroma that blends nicely with the dark malts on the palate for a fairly dry finish. An excellent porter.

Brown thin , beer with a thin head to match. Potent vanilla aroma and flavor. Itís almost too much. took an hour for a bomber.

Draft pour at The Collective. Dark brown pour with a fizz ring head. Vicious sweet aroma. Flavor is play dough. Super sweet. Chocolate, but too artificial. Not my type of porter, but could be much worse.

Tasty but vaguely disappointing because I love porters and vanilla so had high expectations this didnít quite reach. A little too sweet and thin and not enough complexity.

Like used motor oil, opaque dark brown, nearly black. Has a puffy tan head, fades quickly, nice lacing. Has the very expected coffee and unsweetened baking chocolate scents. Hearty Porter taste and as advertised, coffee, chocolate & vanilla. Has a very nice bittersweet, or I should say, sweet then bitter flavor. I was hesitant about the vanilla, expecting a gimmicky artificial vanilla flavor but this is really good, I wouldnít call it subtle but it is artfully balanced and enhances the Porter flavors instead of overwhelming them. Kudos to the lads at Knee Deep!

On tap at Gingerman after Comic Con. Pours a ruby to cola brown with a medium sized tan head. Chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, soft toast. Soft vanilla. Medium-bodied, smooth chocolate, cocoa, soft vanilla. Cocoa, toffee, lingering vanila.

22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Seems like a brown ale to me with vanilla flavoring. Itís not bad but I feel like the vanilla is not making it better just sweeter. Good enough though to make me want to try the imperial version.
