Thanks to my girlfriend who brought me a bottle from Germany. Golden color with full, foamy head. Fresh, herbal taste, and good sweetness from the malt. I found it disappointingly thin on the palate. A fine example of the style, but nothing too spectacular.

rauchbier (3607) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2007
Tap, at Kneitinger Keller Regensburg July 2005. Gold, moderate white head and gentle condition. Chalky grain sweetness in the nose, solid malt sweetness in the mouth balanced by a gentle flowery hop note, lingering peppery hop and chalky grain in the finish.

Bottled:Hoppy aroma. Big frothy head, clear golden color. Light sweet, pleasant malty taste, velvety texture, medium bodied. Notes of aroma hop, herbal. Very dry and bitter finish.

Bottle
Golden fluffy white headd. Flowery perfumed hop aroma. Sweet candyish yet quite lightbodied malt body overlaid with aromatic hops. Too little substance.

on tap at the brewery in regensburg. golden with a promising light green tinge. surprising whiff of alcohol. couldn´t taste much other than metallic bitterness, started off okay but got a bit nasty by the end of the glass

GBBF 2003, tap: Too bad we didn't get to sample the dunkel - this was crap. Sulfury nose, hazy pale orange color, lathery head. Lemony, citrusy tones is an otherwise unpleasant body. Late hoppiness. Awful balance - like a home brew gone bad. Very odd. Poured this one down the drain.

GBBF 2003: It was supposed to be Kneitinger Dunkles, but the brewery send the wrong beer as a guy from CAMRA informed me. Orange nose - ok but not intense. Hazy orange-golden color, little layer of a head, leaving laces on the glass, no carbonation. Grassy, but slightly. Odd metallic finish.
