At the brewpub, 12 August 2014. Deep gold in colour with a decent, white, head. This was similar to the same brewery’s Lagerbier, being slightly less bitter with some more fruit evident. Very good.

22/03/2014 Ma che siete venuti a fà. Servita a caduta dalla botticella al FrankenFest. Dorata limpida, viva, schiuma bianca abbondante e persistente. Corpo leggero, carbonazione media. Buona.

Draft at Knoblach. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of metal. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. A little metallic, but otherwise pleasant and crisp.

croc at the brewery. very mild toasted and burnt grains and cracker character with a small bit of faint char. semi-sweet toffee malt with medium hop bitterness and contributing toast astringency. moderately rough malt and rough carb with the toast and light roast character dominant.

(Rating #3839)

My Bottom Line :
Subtly toasted and caramelized cereals are balanced out by wooden hops in this eminently drinkable Märzen.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the krug.
-The soft carbonation and lean sugars make for high drinkability, perhaps this beer’s best feature.
-This did not feel stronger than their remarkable Ungespundet Lagerbier.
-The flavor profile may not be the most memorable, but it is competently put together and pleasant to drink by the pint.

On tap at the brewery gasthof.
