MoritzF (3593), Ruhrpott, Germany Mar 10, 2008 (bottle) Cloudy deep orange coloured effervescent hue with a huge, off-white foamy head. Yeasty, quite sourish citrus-fruity and light-sweet wheaty nose with light notes of banana Sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied with a fizzy carbonation. Wheat-malty and moderately fruity (banana, ripe citrus) with a distinctive yeasty bitterness; moderately dry, yeasty-, slightly hop-bitter and slightly tart finish with moderate spicy accents. Drinkable but it also lacks a bit balance (10.03.08). TBone (4566), Pori, Finland Oct 30, 2005 Bottled (BB 02/2006)
Copper-orangy brown, a bit hazy after adding some yeast, small white head. Very yeasty aroma, crisp, lemony-fruity esters, underlying banana notes. Dry, bitterish wheat flavors, maybe some unfermented sugars mixed in. Raw, unbalanced even a bit smokey/roasted. Interesting but not so drinkable. sayravai (2964), Helsinki, Finland Oct 24, 2005 (Bottled) Hazy amber color with a smallish head. Aroma of apple and cinnamon, some banana-fruitiness, fresh. Extremely fruity, sweetish banana-vanilla flavor with apple and cinnamon hints. Medium-bodied palate with quite low carbonation. A very nice and tasty weizen. bierkoning (4584), La Tropica, Netherlands Jun 15, 2004 Orange color, cloudy. Yoghurt and orange aroma. Tart, orange, milk, fresh cheese, just a bit yeasty. Even has some brett character. I like this type of hefe weizen! Mads Langtved (2246), København K, Denmark Jun 10, 2003 A nice example of this special style. Top fermented and quite bitter. Also like the lager, very cheap.
