2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dantheman278 (981) - SCOTLAND - JAN 4, 2012
Cask at Cloisters. Murky brown pour, thick creamy head slowly fades with some lacing. Might he past best. Slight diacetyl on the nose but not enough to mask the hops. Lemony soapiness too. Malty chocolate, weetabix, caramel with a metallic hop finish. Would like to try this fresh.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Stephanos (868) - NORTHERN IRELAND - DEC 31, 2011
Cask at cloisters. Medium brown. Perhaps a bit tired. Sweet and slightly metallic. Gentle carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerCast_Rich (1202) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 19, 2011
[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Pours amber, with a thin white head, reduces to a lacing. Flowery hop nose, some caramel in the aroma. Grassy, flowery hop flavour before the sweetish caramel malt comes out. Very sessionable. I think you can tell this is two malty beers blended with one hoppy - although Knops IPA isn’t that crazy hop anyway. The dry hopping adds that fruity hop dimension, and helps balance all the malts. Very nice [19102011]
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Benjii (2412) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 19, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2011 On cask at Cloisters. A blend of the California Common, Musselburgh Broke and India Pale Ale. Dry hopped with Cascade. Pours a lovely red - orange colour with a thick beige head. Aroma is quite hoppy with a little pine, passionfruit and pineapple notes. Similar hop flavours with mild chocolate and caramel also. Nice dry finish and an oily mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation. My favourite Knops beer to date! Very nice indeed. Tried this again at Cloisters, this time dry hopped with a different hop. Not sure which one though. The hop aroma was definitely more subdued. I prefer the Cascade.
