1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle from MJ Rare Beer Club. Sorry, Rare Beer Club, but you failed with this one. I have to agree with you, Walt, this is definitely NOT an IPA in any way, shape, or form. If you gave this to me blindfolded, I would identify it as a very funky Saison, similar to some Fantomes that I’ve had. Nose is funky, with a noticeable fecal quality. Hops are definitely there, but bitterness predominates over aroma/flavor. "Astringent" is a good descriptor, too. Some sourness, and OK to drink if I’m not thinking "IPA". I’m just really trying to get the "Czech IPA" thing, and I can’t. Maybe this batch spent a long time on a hot tarmac somewhere, but I’d definitely relabel as a "Czech Farmhouse Ale".

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pour is sort of a hazed golden color with a fluffy and big soapy white head...smell is strange...just strange...I don’t know what it is that I’m smelling...not infected or struck...but cheese rind and feet mixed with grapefruit, fruit juice, and grassy hops...the taste...what the fuck...this beer is just a disaster...strongly astringent and bitter...another rater mentioned "aggressive hopping"...as if "aggressive hopping" is akin to a serial rapist being called "a handsy fellow"...lots of weird fruit juice and tart (but not in the good way) flavors too...just getting more astringent and oddly and unpleasantly bitter toward the finish...maybe some grape flavors and pear flavors are in there too...who knows....blech!!!!!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml from the MJBC. Hazy pale orange pour with a thick head and impressive effervescence. Nose is ripe and just this side of being off. Sharp and extremely herbal/grassy hops with an abundance of grapefruit in the nose. body is medium, with the intense bitterness almost masking for booze, despite the low ABV. Overpowering impression of drinking fresh pink grapefruit, which to me is quite enjoyable. Funky, fruity, dry, and with a yeastiness that recalls unfiltered Czech pilsners. Nice, quirky, and definitely enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Lahev ( z pivoteky): Golden, unclear, big stable fluffy to rocky white head; distinctive dry herbal-hoppy nose (Centennial) with some sweet pale malt underneath; soft and medium bodied, solid dry bitter-sweet flavour, creamy MF; lingering - hops stick to the palate - dry herbal-hoppy finish with a good pale-malty balance. Pretty czech hop-bomb.......

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Hazy golden, cremy head. Fruity bubblegum and spicy biter orange jumps at me. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Really bitter finish. Combines the gentle Czech malt profile with rather aggressive hopping. Good!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a dense white head. aroma has lots of lemons and grapefruit up front, but not much backing them up. flavour is the same, with only a very light grainy base. thin, slightly watery body with medium carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle from Zly Casy. Clear, perhaps slightly hazy golden colour, mid-sized white head. Hoppy nose. Medium-bodied with a solid malty base, but the emphasis of course is on the delicious Centennial hops. Slightly citrusy with a herbal-resiny touch. A pleasure! Superb quality from a very reliable brewery.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
PET bottle. Pale yellow, with a white lacing foam. Not strong in the aroma compared to other IPAs. Mostly yeast, a bit of hops and slight fruitiness. Light, clear body with medium carbonation. Not very characteristic. but it’s a nice start to make something new there. I expected more, but keep working on it, it’s going in the right direction.

One of the best Czech beer I´ve ever have. Great taste, smell, color and I just hope that there will be more czech IPAs in a near future!
