2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 motelpogo (5048) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - MAR 28, 2012
bottled and on tap at zly casy. somehow this brewery tends to struggle with darker beers, probably why they haven’t released a black i.p.a. to date. this is a dull shade of dark brown with an unenthusiatic head; aroma hints at molasses and garbage juice with some burnt hay; very thin with minimal carbonation; hints of dark grape and more of a caramel petering out than an arresting finish

(Draught at Zly Casy, Prague, 29 July 2011) Very dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of caramel, dark bread and chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with dark bread, caramel, cola and a mild bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Quite nice.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 ElDesmadre (476) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 13, 2011
Bottle. Dark brown, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is caramel, dark bread, some roasted malt and earth, a bit of hops and dark chocolate, some minor sweetish fruitiness. Taste is disappointing - thin, watery and sourish. Light roastiness, earth, a bit of piney-juniper hops mand some soap. Makes the impression of an amateurish beer, the sourness seems to be a common trait of different samples, so I guess it is intentional. It’s not bad but it’s not good either, especially for this brewery.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 meerbier (914) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - APR 8, 2011
Bottle@Home. Butterscotch and toffee aroma with yeast. Brown, lots and lots of bubbles, irregular yellow head, fair lace. Toffee, malts, herbal hops, light bitterness to pretty bitter in the finish, even a bit roasted bitter in the very finish. Medium body, seems more alcoholic than the 4.6% on the label. Bit amateurish and unbalanced.
