BlackHaddock (4998) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 24, 2012
Brown 75cl bottle: best before 21 May 2013, brewed 21 May 2011 and opened 01 July 2012 and poured into three glasses in one go, to try and keep the sediment at bay. Even so the beer was a misty/cloudy looking brew of old gold: on top of each glass a thin wispy head that wasn’t intending to stay around for long and didn’t. Spices in the nose along with the sweeter citrus fruits (oranges/tangerines etc. etc), add some yeast esters and a tablespoon full of sugar and you’ve got the aroma. The taste is very simular to the smells and there is very little hop presence to give any balance or bitterness. Corinader is mentioned on the label and I tried to find the flavour within the beer but failed. Not a great example of a Belgian Tripel but a different slant on the style maybe and not what I was expecting.

BPA Leiden 20110406 (75 cl bottle blind tasting): A slightly cloudy yellow beer with thin white head. The aroma is sweetness, some malts; fruity (citrus-like), but als a little sulfer/cheese (hops?). The taste is sweet, fruity (apple, pear, peach), some alcohol and some higher alcohols. The hopbitter is somewhat masked by the other flavours. The after taste is some sweetness (little sticky) and bitterness

(Bottled, 0.75l) Opaque orange with a medium, firm head. Orange-fruity nose with pale malt, some yeast and acidity. Flavor is orange-fruity, lightly pear-acidic, dryish, pale-malty. Medium body, soft CO2, hides the ABV. A balanced triple, but would benefit from some more complexity. 4235
