Aroma of metal, blood, roasted malt, caramel and nuts. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavour with nuts and raisin flavour really strong. Caramel and coffee come through as well. Aftertaste shows bitter characteristics with coffee and chocolate too. Overall, a good beer - not my favourite baltic, but definitely good to try! I sampled this super old (like 5 year old) bottle that was stored in my fridge on 29 October 2008. lithy (1650), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Pitch black body with a very thick milk chocolate head and nice concentric rings of lacing. Smoky roasty malt with a slight alcohol tinge. The body is light but smooth, slight dark roasted malt, waves of earthy coffee and a finish of sweet chocolate. Fantastic smooth finish would have actually suspected this was a lager not an ale. PWalk (337), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Jet black in the pour with a light tan head that faded fast. Lots of roast in the aroma with dark fruit as well and sweet malt. Flavor is the samewith maybe a little coffee-ness to it. The finish is quick and dry with some lingering to it. No real pronounced hops in this one but then it is 11 years old as of this review. Wonderful beer which now I’m going to go have to find elsewhere as it was my one and only. tuevo (13), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Black color with nice beige head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and rye. Flavor is sweet roasted malty with lots of coffee and some chocolate. Also a slight flavor of fruits can be tasted. Dry in the end with very nice bite of hops. Great mouthfeel. Amazingly delicious for a Finnish beer. Sparky27 (1583), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a pitch black with a 2 finger chocolate milk colored head and nice delicate lacing. Nose is roasted malt, coffee grounds, toasted oats and some light dark fruits. Taste is ashy malt, cocoa, roasted coffee beans, salty black licorice and some bitter hops finishing it out. Full, creamy mouth feel. A great Baltic porter – thanks Alan! adamlangolf (21), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Thanks to lithy for the bottle! Beautiful sepia color with a short-lived yet rich, creamy tan head. There’s some roast malt and chocolate in the nose, but it’s driven by very sweet, sugary fruit: plum, raisin, near grape juice. Flavor is similarly fruity, more coffee present than chocolate, long in sweet malt. Full bodied and rich, it’s not quite as smooth as I’d like. Still a great beer; my main regret was it being only 33cl. Archibaldo de la Cruz (399), Finland
