RollinHard (750), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2008 Thank you, mcbackus! Pours black with a fairly large brown head, lasting ring of foam. Aroma of dark chocolate, chocolate milk, almonds, vanilla, coffee-astringency, toast, just really really nice overall. Tastes similar with dark chocolate, dark rye toast, nuts, coffee, wood and finishes slightly astringent at first. Thankfully the finish evolves into this really nice bitter toasted almond flavor. Really nice aftertaste effectively counters any astringent elements. Medium bodied, but the creaminess makes this feel substantial and the carbonation is also moderate. Quite good! daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle. Pretty much a total black pour wtih a pretty big head. Aroma of delicious toastiness and coffee. I smell some vanilla and wood as well. Taste is fruity and malty as hell with a predictable flavor of chcolate. Good beer indeed. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 21, 2008 33cl bottle: Heartily pours from the bottle to the glass. Builds a deep, near black body and a rising, foamy, thick brown head. Intensely roasted nose is worth savoring. Loads of fresh coffee, brown sugar, caramel, sweet fudge, brownie batter, strong vanilla. Thick, viscous body with a very clean finish. I love this style - loaded with complexity but is easy drinking and finishes fairly clean on the palate. Finishes with a touch of ripe plums and bitter grapefruit. NomDeBeer (399), Maryland, USA Aug 18, 2008 Smells of sweet, dark fruits, and roasted malt. Pours a thick black with a small tan head that diminishes quickly. Taste is more dark fruit, roasted ashy malt, and chocolate. Smooth and sweet with hardly any bitterness. Long, dry finish of chocolate and nuts. Excellent after-taste that lingers well after swallowing. My favorite Baltic Porter so far. dkachur (2319), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 17, 2008 11.2 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. This is the Sinebrychoff Porter IV label. Nearly black pour with a one finger head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and milky notes. Taste is roasted malts with coffee, caramel, milky, nutty and bitter hop notes. Medium body. JK54B (913), Helsinki, Finland Aug 17, 2008 A .33L bottle from Alko. Dark brown colour. Brown head with big bubbles. Some metal in the taste. Taste of mocca-coffee. Not too much sugar. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle.
