Pours a deep brown with riby hues...medium mocha head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma has dark fruit...fig..., subtle dark chocolate, and a bit of toffee sweetness. Flavor has nice roastiness, a hint of bitter dark chocolate, and just a touch of dark fruit...maybe a hint of tobacco. Mouthfeel is medium and lively yet creamy with a bold, roasty finish.

Bottle shared at some place
Pours jet black, big espresso head. Smells of dark ripe fruits, coffee, yeast notes, smoke and roasted malts. Taste is full body malted, good sweetness, also coffee and caramell. Nice oily palate that leads to a nice bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black color. Small thin dark brown head. Lovely malt aromas, roasty and coffee. Flavors of coffee, toasty bread, and toasted brown sugar. Malt finish is very pleasant, but strong alcohol on palate though. Overall I liked it as a winter beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 alobar (1865) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2011
Pours 10,000 mile dirty motor oil black with a tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, and coffee. Thin body with chocolate, toffee, and hints of milk. All in all, a great beer!
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ccex (119) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2011
This is my kind of beer. 12 oz bottle pours opaque black with a substantial head and lacing. The first whiff smells like other Baltic Porters I’ve tried, but the first sip is wonderfully chocolatey and smokey. Texture is a bit oily, and the finish isn’t very long, but I’m glad to have tried this and will check it out again. (Labeled as Sinebrychoff Porter IV)
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Scrapersnbeer (217) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Looks like coal tar. This is one of the darkest beers I’ve seen in awhile Smells like semisweet dark chocolate melted over a simmering burner. Tastes of bittersweet toffee and strong roasted coffee. Distinct malty aftertaste. Not as thick as the appearance suggests, but oily residue abounds. Very nice beer indeed.

Bottle. Deep black with a tall dark tan head. Body is decent but a little thinner than I like for this style. Strong flavor, lingering finish.
