iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Sep 6, 2007 11.2oz, no date. Deep brown with a two finger tan head, fades to a 1/4" film after a bit.. Loads of semisweet chocolate and molasses in the aroma, some roast, and soy and nuts in the background. The slightest tinge of spicy alcohol present. The flavor even has a hint of smokiness--dunno where that came from. Lots of chocolate and scorched caramel in the flavor, roasted grain and ashy semidry finish. The alcohol is more apparent than it probably should be (at 7.2%) as it warms. Low carbonation, medium body. Very good beer that I have overlooked a few times before at John’s Grocery. enenalan (21), Linden, New Jersey, USA Sep 5, 2007 Poured deep brown to black with a frothy coffee con leche head which quickly dissipated. Aroma was malt, chocolate, and slight alcohol. Flavor is chocolate with a roasted finish. Pretty bitter, but nice. Not that it’s the greatest, but if you needed a beer to represent the porter style, this would be the one. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Sinebrychoff Porter

bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2007 Black. I love it. Nice tan head also. Oh...my...god...nice chocolate smell. Looking forward to ths! Top 3 Porter on my list of Porters. Just wow. Not really that carbinated which makes it great! Chocolateness goodness. OH MAN! Also a hint of espresso mixed in it. Great! goozen (1061), Leiden, Netherlands Aug 25, 2007 Bottle: Great Porter with the formidable roasted malts taste and heavy alcohol in it. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Aug 24, 2007 This beer pours almost pure black with what might be the darkest head I have ever seen. Aroma is big for a porter and is full of roasted malts. It hints of a great beer to come. First sip brings a wide variety of flavors. Roasted coffee, dark chocolate and dark fruit jump out. A light dry bitterness remains long after the sip is gone. Ratebeer samplers give this a 98% and I can only imagine how good the top 2% is! This beer is amazing and takes the style to some wonderful heights. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Aug 22, 2007 2000 bottle from kmweaver, consumed 7/22/07. Black body with a small tan head. Lightly oxidized, sherry nose with anise, caramel and chocolate. The flavor is lightly sweet, roasted with some dark fruits, toffee and dark chocolates. Medium body is very soft with light carbonation. This has held up quite nicely. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 22, 2007 33 cl bottle from a great trade with Stegosaurus - thanks Joe. Opaque black with ruby highlights and a creamy thick brown head. Dark fruity aroma with some coffee notes and spice. Thick and luxuriously chewy, with some lingering bitterness and a little oiliness. nicely balanced with a solid malt base and assertive spicy bitterness. A real treat, deserving of its reputation.
