330 ml bottle from my secret santa (summer 08). shared with jessem. pours black with a small tan head. soft carbonation. aromas are all roasted malts. chocolate, anise, roasted barley, caramel. flavours are similar with the caramel really showing. a little thin, a little to sweet. some astrigency. not a bad brew but this one might have been past its prime.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2009 33cl bottle shared with Matt7215 and his brother, his bottle (thanks Matt). May or may not have been a 2003 or 2004 vintage. Pours a nice inky brown with a small mocha head. Aroma is major anise, prunes, alcohol, and roasty malts. The flavour is really nice, and in one word I would describe it as balanced. Big sweetness up front, dark fruits, roasty malt, hint of coffee, but with a very dry astringent finish that works perfectly with the preceding sweetness. No hint of booze whatsoever. Decently complex, though I wouldn’t say that it’s a stand-out in that respect. I’ve been craving this style, and it’s something I’d rather have on a brisk winter evening, but for the time being it hit the spot, and I really enjoyed it. Top notch stuff I wish I could get locally!

On tap @ De Geuzen and De Paas, 2007. Black beer, creamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, some sweetness. Flavour is sweet at first, coffee, liquorice, chocolate. Slightly metallic. Bitter coffee finish and aftertaste. Thick and oily palate/mouthfeel. Very complex and extremely nice beer.

One of the best if not the best beer in Finland. Delicious liquid chocolate ryebread with a nicely dry aftertaste. Winter warmer, summer dessert and simply a great beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark coffee color with a medium sized dark tan head. Has the aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and cherries. Flavor follows in that respective order, with the fruit flavor on the finish. Pretty heavily bodied. Coffee flavor predominant in the aftertaste. A good selection.

It poured very dark brown/black. It had a dark brown head to it. There was a strong aroma of fruit. It tastes like mocha/chocolate, with a bitter finish.
