| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2007 Bottle. Very dark, burnt color. thick milk chocolate colored foam. Sweet aroma with syrup and malts. Tastes malts, smoke and chocolate. Not so roasted as appearance and aroma would hint. Feels like melted butter in mouth: oily and runny. Great beer! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Bottle. Black pour with no head. Aroma held some vinous elements, chocolate, roasted malt and a tinge of funk. Doughy roasted malt in the flavor along with more vinous aspects as well. Full body with little to no carbonation which seems to suit the other components...bitter dry finish. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours very black with a brown head. Sexy. Aroma is malty as hell, dark fruits, light chocolate. Taste is slightly watery, carbonated and chocolatey. Good but I was expecting a little more. holdenn (1439), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Delilah’s Vintage Beer Fest 2007 vintages ’97 and ’00. Pours dark brown with a beige head. ’97 aroma is abundant very plumy chocolate, dark roast and dark fruit. ’00 vintage lacks the dark fruit and plum and is more of a simple chocolate roast. ’97 Chocolate roast flavors, tons of chocolate and dark fruit, damn tasty. ’00 bitter baker’s chocolate, but once again not leading to the complexities and fruit. finishes dry. At ten years this is a damn good beer. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2007 Bottle thanks to Mcbackus. Poured a dark , thick body with a thin head, left a nice ring around the glass. Aroma is of chocolate malt, roasted malt and a small amount of hops. Flavor is bitter sweet with a sence of sugar to it. Light mouthfeel that is left kind of dry. This was smooth and the alcohol is undetected.
