COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sinebrychoff Porter is a dark unfiltered beer manufactured by using top fermentation. Munich malts and plenty of hops impart a strong flavour to the beer.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 21 Sep 2007) Pitch black colour with brief, brown head. Roasted nose with chocolate, coffee, liquorice and modest notes of tar. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice, hints of tar and soy sauce. Powerful finish with coffee bitterness and sweetish chocolate notes. Medium to full body, with slightly oily texture. Seriously nice porter.

This dark brown ale poured with a decent long-lasting tan head and a strong malt aroma. The flavor is rather bitter for a porter, but that is offset by the sweetness in the ensuing coffee and caramel malt tastes. Very complex and delicious.

Black color, fluffy creamy brown head. Fruity, sweet, roasted scent. Roasted dry coffee and chocolate taste with hints of metal. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Was very nice with some chocolate truffel.

Pours thick and viscous, black non-see through, medium sized brown head. Sweet, lactic, alcohol, raissin, smooth, chocolate scent, also some salt. Grainy, metallic, chocolate taste, some coffee and loads of roasted malt. Taste starts off almost mild, but change to an evident grainy and roasted malt aftertaste. Strange mix of smooth and moussy mouthfeel. Medium, a bit dry and harsh, bitterness.

Bottled as Sinebrychoff. Sweet malty aroma with a huge helping of earthy roast that gets down and dirty. Light appended fruitiness and medium-strength notes of chocolate and caramel. Opaque motor oil pour with a dark brown head, long-lasting and lacing and rocky - an absolutely gorgeous beer. Bitter and very dry taste (and after-), heavy roast overtones with very sweet red berry rushing up to offer balance. Coffee and caramel linger but only deep under the chocolate. Thin body, smooth feel, and relatively tight alcohol integration. Feel like some sort of stratigrapher or dendrochronologist counting the rings of lace collected on the glass, and the slowly-diminishing rocky head reminds of ice cream dumped into a glass of A&W. Superb.

Pours a pitch black with a dark tan head. Nose is a sweet sugary malt with extremely faint roasted bean (coffee and cocoa) qualities to it. Flavor is very unique. Smooth and tough. On the very tail end I get a strong almost tarred earth aftertaste that lingers in my mouth. But before that comes I get a strong silky smooth lightly roasted porter. Feel is thick and with good bubble. It has only been a few minutes and I am halfway through it. Extremely drinkable. An absolutely beautiful brew.

Rich choco-fruity malt aroma with roast. Good label, impressive caramel head on opaque beer. Twang/acidity in the aroma. Smooth, a little metallic - especially the foam. Tangy, most of the bittering is left to the dark malt. Nuts, some cocoa. Very good, but missing hallmarks. Thick. Finishes nicely. Bottle, Ludwigs, Philly.

9/12/2007: Sinebrychoff Porter IV pours like motor oil that has been used not once, but twice! It is very dark brown, pretty opaque, and doesn’t really have much of a crown. I think this is a vintage bottle as the carbonation seems to be pretty low as well. The aroma is great! It has lots of rich, complex dark malts, semi-sweet chocolate, sweet licorice, some distance char, and maybe even a hint of Dr. Pepper. The flavor is also quite complex. It has a deep, darkly roasted maltiness, molasses, carmelized sugar, some wood (probably from the oxidation), char, and smooth chocolate undertones. The finish is almost like black coffee in both flavor and bitterness. The mouthfeel of this medium-bodied beer is smooth, but a bit thinner than expected. This beer is quite good overall, but might be slightly past it’s prime...

Bottle - Jet black color with a small quickly diminishing head. This beer was grea. Much more malt character than many other Porter. This gives the beer a really nice character that holds up very well to the molasses and chocolate flavors. Really weel done.
