4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled in 1997, bottle #2451: I found this beauty in my cellar during a recent inventory so thanks whoever gave it to me! 11 years old and this beer is great! Jet black in the pour with a light tan head that faded fast. Lots of roast in the aroma with dark fruit as well and sweet malt. Flavor is the samewith maybe a little coffee-ness to it. The finish is quick and dry with some lingering to it. No real pronounced hops in this one but then it is 11 years old as of this review. Wonderful beer which now I’m going to go have to find elsewhere as it was my one and only.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tight cocoa cream, lots of curtain laceworks down the mug, black brown black body.
Scents; chocolate caramel malts, hints from coffee, sweet liquorice,
faint dusty meadows with flowers and berries.
Taste; distinct dark roasted fruity malts, sweet fruity liquorice, some coffee notes, prunes, chocolate.
Easy alright on palate, good body.
Ends with the fruity chocolate sauce from malts, grainy sweet hops, sweet roastiness, lingering a bit.
Overall really tasty.

Good porter, with traditional coffee, chocolate, and pretty nice level of carbonization. Ok balance, and in general tasty.

Courtesy of rosenbergh. Many thanks, Jan!.
Pours very dark with quite tan frothy head. Short head retention, some lacing. Roasty, chocolate and spicy aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, silky texture. Taste is roasty, caramel, chocolate, spicy. Very well balanced, smooth and quite enjoyable.
