This Baltic poter is outstanding, with rich, complex flavour and texture, yet high drinkability. Basically black, it has a very large, rich, frothy light brown head that shrinks only slowly to a permanent, thin, foamy top and rich, frothy lace. The aroma is mild wine, chocolate, prunes, toast. Although with firm, complex elements, itís somewhat subdued. The taste is rich, complex, smooth and clean. All flavours, sweetness and bitterness are beautifully balanced with complex taste of leaves, chocolate, dark toasted brown bread, prunes, a hint of port, some raisin, black pepper, the latter stronger in the finish, with an increasing taste of black coffee condensed with brown sugar that is stronger by the end. It is rather dry throughout, not too bitter or sweet. In the middle, it has a definite but light sweetness and light but slightly stronger bitterness right at the finish, but for most of the time, up front and in the final finish and aftertaste, it is mostly dry, clean, and leafy.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a medium beige head. Malty aroma with caramel and roast; some dark chocolate, coffee and dried fruits. Taste reflects the aroma, but is even more malty. Medium bodied. Low bitterness. And medium carbonation. + for the affordable price.

Very dark brown with a foamy tan head, loads of big bubbles. Dusty baking chocolate and coffee, has a sweet, tangy flavor. Coffee is prominent but not overwhelming, has an unusual lingering aftertaste, still pretty darned good! Thanks to rosenbergh for this treat, Mahalo Jan!

2009 Vintage released by B. United. Soft and roasty from front to back. Nice carbonation, layers of cocoa dusted compost, roasted grain, chewy bread, nuances of anise and malted milk. Delicious porter !

Almost black, really nice dark colour with little dark tan head. Aroma: alcoholic, dried mullberry, lots of cacao, coffee, raisins. Tastes like above, dominant dark coffee taste. Would be more enjoyable with desert.

Dark brown body, with a medium, dense, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, some liquorice, dark fruits.
Tastes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, powder, liquorice, some caramel, some dark fruits.
Quite full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, dry, with coffee, cocoa powder, liquorice, dark chocolate.

Very nice. Smooth and pleasantly dry, with lovely coffee notes. Really well balanced, with just enough sweetness to balance the dry roastiness. Among the best Baltic Porters Iíve had so far.

Poured from a 330 ML bottle into a snifter at the World of Beer in Cary, NC. Wow, the appearance is pure black gold with a small creamy tan head . The aroma is full of malt, coffee bean and cocoa. . . outstanding. The flavor is pure malt heaven and is very rich. An outstanding porter.
