Kokanee is a 5.0 percent alcohol (by volume) lager that is smooth, clean and lightly hopped. It is brewed with mountain stream fed water and a blend of 3 malts and features a unique combination of superior Western-grown North American hops. Brewed in the Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia by the Columbia Brewing Company, Kokanee is British Columbia's most popular beer over the last 10 years. Since its introduction to the Northwest U.S. in the summer of 1994, many people have discovered and enjoyed Kokanee's cool, crisp, glacier fresh taste.

12oz bottle pours a golden yellow color with a thin white head that leaves ok lacing. smells of sweet malt and light hops. Tastes of the same things in the smell. mouthfeel is light and chewy with decent carbonation. Overall not bad for a canadian macro lager. One of my favorites as far as macro lagers go.

Tap, bottles, cans. Generic lager but a bit more crisp. Pours golden, white foam,

Used to be my favorite beer...when I was 19. Good memories aside, it’s actually not a bad beer at all. As usual with any lager/pilsner like this, it’s best from the bottle. Aroma sucks - has a sour smell; not good. Appearance is standard for a lager. Taste is more bitter than, say, Molson Canadian (which is quite grainy) or Budweiser (which has a light sweetness to it). Ice cold, I find that Kokanee can’t be beat for its kind; truly, there’s nothing more refreshing on a hot day than an ice-cold Kokanee. But if it’s not nice and chilled, it’s not very good. As a session beer, it’s good though. Served in a frosty pint, nothing beats it for its type.

Come on, it’s not that bad. But is it just an urban myth that every once in a while, a battle would have a sasquatch on it? That is the big rumor here in Portland. I had this on tap at Jerry’s house who finally was able to have a keg after a year. It took his wife that long not to be pissed about all the Trumers Pils he drank during back surgery.

Not good, though perfect for sucking down in quantity after tiring of the sweet but potent mixed drinks at a Stampede-week happy hour. So kudos for that.

Plain, about what you would expect it to taste like after examining its pale yellow consistency

Bottle. A clear, slightly pale golden beer topped by a decent, white head. The aroma is mostly on the grainy side, some fruityness kicking in as well. Medium to thin on the palate, too sweet I think, with a faint bitterness and some fruity hints. Short finish. Except for the sweetness, it’s a decent pale lager I think, but there’s way too many other options out there. 130704

Bottle...who's going to put this in a glass? Appearance, well, I'm guessing that it's golden and effervescent. Aroma...lagery...this rating is purely going to be on taste, I think; and I don't imagine that'll be a good thing. Taste is skunky, some straw, almost no hops. Where are the hops, Columbia Brewing Company? A typical Canadian lager that reminds me of my late teens.
