COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kokanee is a 5.0 percent alcohol (by volume) lager that is smooth, clean and lightly hopped. It is brewed with mountain stream fed water and a blend of 3 malts and features a unique combination of superior Western-grown North American hops. Brewed in the Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia by the Columbia Brewing Company, Kokanee is British Columbia's most popular beer over the last 10 years. Since its introduction to the Northwest U.S. in the summer of 1994, many people have discovered and enjoyed Kokanee's cool, crisp, glacier fresh taste.

Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (cereal), only trace hops (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Sweet, virtually no aroma or flavor, fizzy.

Very disappointing and rather expensive. One of the most watery beers I've had and standing at 5% really adds to the insult.

Pours clear yellow, thin white head. Aroma has a tiny bit of grass, some grain. Taste is very weak with notes of grass, some grain and bread, tiny bitter at the end.

Draught. At some "Irish" bar near The Docks I forget the name of. Well lookee, another Canadian PL I haven’t rated. You need to hear this? Pale yellow, fizzy, clear, small white head. Smells like sweet stale grain and mildly of cardboard, tastes the same, no aftertaste, no linger, no garbage at least, but NOTHING to make me ever drink it again, hot babes in their commercials or no - watery, barely carbonated, blah.

My choice for worst Canadian macros. Light-bodied, watery and weak. Still better than Bud, Miller, etc.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap. Pale yellow with a thin dissipating white head. Light grain nose and very little taste. As far as pale lagers go, it is neither flavorful nor offensive.

Can (355ml) on a plane. Pours a clear gold with a large fluffy white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet and corny, quite sugary and a bit vegetal -- not good at all. Watery flavour is sugary sweet with a light bitter finish. Quite carbonated. Average bodied. Your standard Canadian macro Lager, needless to say I had no more beer on this flight.

Bottle. Pours light gold with a white head. Light sweet malt aroma with grain and honey. Light clean body. Flavor is again malty with grain and a hint of grass. Not that bad.

douglas88 (5834) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 8, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2008 Bottle bought at the Utah State Store. Pours a very clear yellow with a small white head. Usually, I see a beer with this much clarity as a good thing in a pale lager. The aroma is is mostly skunky and metallic notes. The taste is pretty bad; first, it surprises me how much alcohol is in the taste, like a over fermented batch of corn and stagnant water. Some soap and odd metal in there too. Sorry, but this was pretty bad.
