2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 8, 2008
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Myrup. Very cloudy yellow beer with a dense and creamy off-white head. Fresh and fruity nose with a whiff of yeast. Medium-bodied with some caramel and fruit and a distinct sourness all through the finish. Clearly - and sadly - infected. 311008
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 yespr (26042) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - NOV 1, 2008
50 cL bottle, courtesy of Myrup. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Light phenolic and roasted malt aroma. Spiced and citric flavoured with a mild spice note beyond the initial flavour. Citric and slight malty flavoured with a distinct citric note on the before the finish. Spiced and towards dry citric into the finish. I guess the spice composition and missing balance towards the citric hops makes this a no-go for me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Grovlam (4137) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 31, 2008
Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] Large foamy off-white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Hazy golden color. Aroma of hoppy and hint of sour notes, yeast, caramel, fruit. Over the palate came strong sour and sweet fruity notes. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Moderated sweet and acidic flavor. Light sour fruity finish.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 TBone (9999) - Pori, FINLAND - OCT 20, 2008
(Bottled). Thanks oh6gdx.
Hazy, orange color with small white head. Sour, glueish, lightly fruity aroma. Sour, apricot, mango and grapefruit flavors. Sourness indicated that this was perhaps infected? (other ratings tell about tartness too)
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 harrisoni (10911) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2008
Angry fist of Santa tasting at Chris_o’s. Cloudy gold, thin off white head. Slightly orangey sour flavour, quite nicely tart. Really quite nice, sour and sherbert hop. Yep, pretty good.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MesandSim (7118) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2008
A Mes rate: bottle at Chris_O’s "Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf / Hog Fest" tasting. Cloudy amber with a thin white head. I’ll agree with the Hog fella here, a nice saison like Belgian character to it all round really. Faint lemon sourness with a good yeasty base. Very dry making me keep wanting to sip at it. Nice stuff.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 HogTownHarry (5648) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - OCT 9, 2008
Bottle. At Chris_O’s September 2008 DenCan bash. Provided by the brewers (nice to meet you both!). Murky gold pour with a decent foamy off-white head, quitte a few floaties. Rather saison-like aroma - tart, spicy, dry and funky/yeasty, underpinned by sweet malt (made me think of pears). While still quite fruity, the taste had less spiciness and more tartness ... the overall mouthfeel was dry, average palate, solid carbonation with the tartness lingering medium-long. Tasty, I quite liked it (seemed a bit astraddle styles, but who cares)
