The head is medium, the body brown and very cloudy. It smells sweet-malty. The taste is malty, aromatic, a bit hoppy, a bit sweet. Overall ok. 11/10/11/11/-/11

on tap at zoigltag in ’09 and ’10, usually worth settling in here for a couple. looks great - faintly hazy golden with a steady white head; aroma of hay, passionfruit nectar and sandstone; crisp and invigorating, grassy, cumquat with some lurking butterscotch. excellent drinking

At Beim Bahler, Neuhaus 11/07/2011. Deep, clear gold with a frothy white head. Biscuit malt aroma with a touch of citrus fruit and dusty hop. Flavour had more fruit, a touch of caramel leading to a hoppy, bitter finish. Excellent stuff.

Slighly hazy, mostly clear, deep gold with foamy head. Aroma is worty-sweet and yeasty. Not the most sophisticated zoigl but still nice. The body is sturdy as are the maltz and the overall impression is sweet, yeasty and sticky but balanced.

Dull gold. The aroma shows a hint of butter. The taste is ok, though, a bit buttery. Fairly bland and sweetish zoigl.

Cloudy golden with a medium off white head. Grassy hops in the nose with malty hints. Very dry flavor with plenty of grassy hops. Finished dry and bitter.

Tap. Cloudy yellow, white head. Yeasty, citruspeel, clay, bitter grassy hops. Medium to light, chewy dry mouthfeel. Feels like a Pilsner served in a unbaked clay mug. Unspoilt, fresh.

Tap. Sweet buttery malt aroma. Mostly clear golden yellow color with a small head. Sweet creamy malt and moderately bitter grass hops flavor. Very nice - the hoppiest Zoigl I’ve had.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 October 2009: the first and last zoigl of the night. first impressions were a bit wonky as they had just begun pouring and the carbonation and body seemed flabby and lifeless. but later that night it’s conditioned had changed remarkably and it was "on". appearance was hazy golden wheat with a rocky and soft fine-bubbled white head. nose is malt/grain-rich with spiced / rustic honey, apples, butter and hay, with snappy malt and a minerally and zesty yeast quality. amazingly fresh and vibrant, exceptionally deep and complex, and immeasurably drinkable. froth and rich texture, perfectly mashed, perfectly structured. i drank a lot of this later during the night. August 2014: We wedding crashed Zoiglstube Bahler on a Saturday night, sneaking inside to taste a small glass and being told to sit outside next to the wedding guests where they poured us a small glass of the Zoiglbier. Unfortunately it was in terrible shape. Strong diacetyl, lots of sugar, flabby mouth feel. Boo on this. (2.4)
