Tap, half a litre for € 1,50 at the Zoiglstube. Orange blonde, slightly hazy. Orange and a touch of yeast in the aroma. Earthy flowery hopbitter flavor. Chewing gum. Orange. Slightly yeasty. Cellary. Long slightly earthy yeasty bitter aftertaste. Very drinkable.

(draught) pours a hazy deep amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of sweet spices, straw and beetroot, slightly meaty. flavour is straciatella, grass and lots of grain, subtly spicy, with hints of cinnamon. medium-bodied with lively carbonation. very rustic.

On tap at the Gloser: Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, fruity-yeasty nose with a woody-hoppy background; small stable creamy head; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied, quite smooth; shorter yeasty-fruity finish with some hoppy traces. Good, but not overwhelming.....

Draught at Beim Gloser, Windischeschenbach. Cloudy amber, creamy head. Light cellar aroma. Mid-sweet , medium bodied and heavily minerally. Soft and fruity. Finishes with marked bitterness. the most powerful of the three zoigl I tasted, more filling, more minerally and more bitter. Thus less refreshing.

Had this from a 2l-Siphon. The beer is golden-coloured in the glass, not much foam. Starts vapid, modest fruity, like lemon. Turns then a bit malty. The finish is well balanced, fruity again, like apricot. Very drinkable. Nice experience!

At Beim Gloser, Windischeschenbach. Head is small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain/bread), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (basement), with light notes of honeydew rind and minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Another good zoigl, this one perhaps a bit more yeasty and minerally than others, maybe a tad more bitter as well.

rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2006
Draught, at Beim Gloser in Windischeschenbach, October 2006, but fermented at Beim Binner. Hazy amber, thin lasting white head and gentle condition. Gentle spicy peppery nose with touches of yeast and a pleasant underlying caramel maltiness, slight fruitness in the mouth with a balancing dry yeast chalkiness and a sweet toffee note developing with time. Lingering sweet finish with a gentle dry chalky bitterness. Sweeter and darker than the Zoigl from Neuhaus.
