Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-Row), Caramel

Surprising for a golden ale I feel the low raring is disturbing. Resembles more of an IPA. Crisp and refreshing great summertime session beer to boot. If you see it pick up a 6 pack it won’t dissapoint.

12oz bottle in an English pint. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of pale malts, light fruitiness and floral notes from the hops. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the ingredients. Average texture. Not a bad beer.

Gold, clear, white head. Aroma of honey malt and light citrusy hops. Flavor of grainy and somewhat biscuity malt, light caramel sweetness, enough resiny bitterness (with some citrus flavor as well) to balance the finish. Easy-drinking golden ale.

A sunny day in Ireland can be a rare thing. This beer accompanied it perfectly. Appearance clear golden, head fizzed out. The aroma is tropical fruity which carries into the taste. Low alcohol (4.4 abv) means no bitterness on palate. Easy to drink. Only wish I bought more.

Six-pack from local grocery. Pours golden yellow with a light foamy head. Aroma is fruit and a little bready/hoppy notes. Crisp, clean with a mix of sweetness and bitterness. A bit of alcohol on the finish but very easy drinking. Seems like a great match for a warmer day.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Fantastic aroma of passionfruit, dungeony malt, with a sweet overlay. Light, golden color, small white head. A very light beer on the palate, with an afterbite of alcohol that is mild and crisp. This is a fantastic light beer to be enjoyed at any time. You could use this beer as a hydration beer in between your heavier pursuits.

35,5cl bottle at Parkteatret. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, malt with hints of caramel and citrus. A nice surprise more, more hoppy than expected. Medium sweet with lovely fruity flavour and a balanced bitterness. Pretty light body. Very drinkable and surprisingly nice.

Kona Big Wave Golden Ale has a fairly thick, rocky, off-white head, a clear, golden appearance, lots of streaming bubbles (etched glass), some lacing, and little white specks floating throughout. The aroma is of fruit (think pineapple), faint bread, and mild sweetness. Taste is all of those, with a strong tap water note. Bitterness is mellow and pleasant, but ho-hum, to an extent. Mouthfeel is between light and medium, and Kona Big Wave Golden Ale finishes dry, crisp, refreshing, lager-like, and drinkable. Overall, this is alright, and I suppose it’s worth checking out. RJT
