Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor Ė a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3į

16oz draft 5/27/14 (The Town-Aurora)-Pours a clear golden with a decent sized white head. Aroma of hops, grains, and malt. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew goes down easy and is pretty tasty.

Bottle bougth at stuelands apothek. Smell reminds me instantly of ananas. This one was very good. Fruity. Not bitter. Sweet. Taste of ananas, citrus and hops.

Kona Brewing isnít usually high on my shopping list thanks to the awesome array of choices here in San Diego. But at $3 for a tall bottle, it seemed like a no-brainer to try something from there that I havenít yet had a chance to enjoy. Itís a medium golden beer with a touch of haze, most likely from the chill of the refrigerator, and a slight fuzz of white bubbles on top. The smell is thick with white grape juice, a cloying apple juice sweetness, and a slight greek yogurt tang. The taste is much thinner, with just a light layer of apple, which levels off to a light touch of graininess, and a flavor profile that verges on a pallid, gray lifelessness, carried only by a moderate ebullience and a thicker-than-water body. You canít expect a barley wine for $3, but as far as golden ales go, this is very much on the thinner, lighter side. That said, it might fit very well with a day at the beach. Expecting something with a rich flavor profile and a more assertive alcohol dimension? Invest a little more.

Great light refreshing taste with nothing heavy. No bitter flavor or finish and nothing over powering. A great easy drinking beer.

Flavorful beer that is still light enough to drink a few. Not as hoppy as a pale ale or ipa but much more full bodied than a lager.

Lots of body for 4.4% ABV. But bland taste wit little hop contribution. Bud yellow color.

Gee weez, where do I begin? Sorry, Iím a bit overwhelmed right now with this awesome beer. Oh yeah, bottling date = "April 04, 2014." Sigh, yeah, before I actually get into this, Iíll admit, yeah man, this is great stuff. I had this in a pint glass. The appearance, wow, what a show! Thereís a semi-hazy golden/blonde color with barely any carbonation surfacing but what youíll notice is that it is there, but just delicately slides to the surface into the head. The head is about a fingerís worth of soft white foaminess that ends up concaving and leaving a nice clingy semi-thick foaminess that ends up spider-webbing a bit here and there. The smell, wow, once again, thereís almost a perfect blend of the caramel malts to the citrusy hops with just a touch of spice (is that the Galaxy hops, I think, honestly Iím still learning hops a bit to be honest). The taste, well, it takes all of those previously mentioned flavors and blends them just about perfectly. The aftertaste is superb with probably the absolute best blend of flavorings to delicately touch my taste buds. On the palate, this one sits fairly light but has just enough carbonation to make everything feel sublime. Overall, Kona, where the heck did you pull this one out of? Way to go as Iíll go out on a limb and say youíve made the best American Blond Ale known to the beer world!

Pours a bright clear golden color with white head. Cereal grain, caramel malt, and a little tropical hop on the nose; follows onto the palate. For being a simple golden ale, this is a great example of the style.
