Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-Row), Caramel

Keg pour during Annapolis 5K beer run. Pours clear gold with thin, white head. Aroma is cereal and toasted malts, citrus hops, grapefruit, and light wheat. Flavor is balanced bready malts, citrus fruit esters, and pine hops; dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

0.355l bottle. This is a near-clear golden one with a small quickly side sticking and islandy off-white top. The aroma is not really all that much. Im always hoping for a lovely tropical aroma in all beers coming from tropical places, but quite often Im disappointed. Some sweetness with traces of something copper metallic and some floral hints. Not horrible, but just not all that good either. It has a soft carbonation level and the mouthfeel is thin, almost watery. Its relatively easy to drink this. Some malty flavors, not directly sweet, but it has a good amount of malty sweetness. Biscuits and floral flavors. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still absolutely OK. 20.04.2013

Well I full expected to dislike this but it was a refreshing surprise. The nose was all grapefruit hop, very fruity, with some lime as well as nearly a tropical character. While the hop flavors were muted, and the malt base was blandish, it was balanced and had just enough gravity to stop short of being thin, instead it was a fairly nice and light drinkable beer with a pleasing hop nose.

On tap, funky citrus sweet and musky nose. Some of the same in the taste. Sweet and malty. Just not very good Im afraid.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours bright gold, clear with a small white head and decent lacing around the glass. Aroma is grain mostly, some floral hops and hint of citrus fruits. Taste is similar bready, some hints of hops and hints of citrus fruits, some honey flavor too. It has mild bitter and dry. It has a crisps refreshing taste a bit too watery; I guess it is OK but it is far from being great.

Draft at Yard House in Hallandale. American pint glass. Bright yellow, clear pour with lots if carbonation. Thick fluffy white head that took 90 seconds to disappear. Decent lacing. Aroma was a little odd. I get lemons and feet. Hot, sweaty feet. Im sure it is the hops used. Taste is light citrus lemons, grass and pine resin. The feet taste comes through more of pine in the taste. Light a refreshing...but the feet on the nose each sip makes it less desirable.

Bottle. Pours honey-gold with a short, quick-dissipating head. Mild floral and herbal nose. Some hops bitterness followed by a citric sweetness -- definite pineapple notes. Drinkable.

12 ounce bottle - $1.39 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Bottling Date: MAR 13 13.

Appearance: Pours out a clear, pale yellow body with a smallish, thin layer of white suds.

Smell: Grainy-scented nose edged with waterlogged biscuits and the faintest, far-off hint of honey. A little flower petal, a little sweaty citrus rind.

Taste: Washed out biscuit-toned malts with a thin, thin honeyed veneer to it. Some husky, grainy astringency noted. Modest floral, faintly citrusy hops with a bit of bitterness aided by the graininess and crisp carbonation. Dry, bitterish, crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: What the hell is going on here?
