Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Location: Draft served in a plastic cup by the pool, Marriott Waikiki Beach, 7/4/12

Aroma: The aroma is fairly faint, with some grains, grassy hop notes, and light dough as well
Appearance: Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a white head and some lace on the plastic cup
Flavor: Tastes mild, with light sweetness and light bitterness, and the same components as the nose
Palate: The body is light, and easy drinking, with a typical of the style feel that works well by the pool
Overall Impression: This wasn’t by any means a great beer, or even a decently good beer, but in this particular setting, it certainly served its purpose. If I had to guess, my rating might be a touch high because of the obvious outside factors.

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body and a minimal sized off-white head. The aroma is peachy, tropical and with hints of maltyness. All rather weak, but it’s pleasant anyway. It’s medium bodied, semi-dry and pleasantly carbonated, with flavors of pale malts in the back, and peachy, tropical fruity hoppyness up front. Could use a bit more bitterness maybe, both initially and in the end, but it’s a nice and refreshing beer anyway. 120623

Pours golden and has a nice citrus aroma. The flavor is crisp and citrus. Light and refreshing, but enough body to let the aroma and flavors shine. Something I could drink all day and not get tired of. Orange was probably the most noticeable. Thanks to my Mother in law that flew this back from Hawaii with her for me.

12oz bottle - Yellow. White head. A bit bland, but not unexpected for a golden ale. Certainly nothing to go out of the way to get, but on a hot day, it sure beats the macro lagers. Not bad overall.

Bottle, great label! Served on a sunny but chilly day in Norway. Nice first impression, but too bland with little bitterness. Probably ok on a beach in Hawaii but no personality, light moithfeel and very short aftertaste.
