Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-Row), Caramel
Hops: Galaxy, Citra

Pours a clear golden with minimal head and modest lacing . Aroma of toasted malt subtle tropical fruit light bodied with crisp mouthfeel. Mildly sweet, no bitterness. No real hop presence. I think I know what they are going for in this and it’s good. for what they want. Like!

Tap. Light cereal for the malt, light to moderate pine for the hops, with notes of pepper and paper. Head is large, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy light amber. Flavor start slightly acidic and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A nice Blond Ale with a decent hop presence.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - pine, orange and apricot. Taste - luscious oranges and apricots. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - very enjoyable. I’d classify this as an American Pale Ale in style.

Bottle at the Greyfriar, Reading. Nice gold colour but visibly thin and fizzy.Butter and caramel up front but generally has more than a hint of mass market lager about it. Some sweetcorn, a hint of citrus, a touch of grass, but predominantly bland and fizzy. Drinkable but poor.

Nothing stands out in it’s appearance, semi-cloudy, medium yellow body with medium white head that fades pretty quick. Aroma is fruity, pineapple with hints of pine. Taste is mild, slightly sweet, but not overpowering. Mild and somewhat refreshing.

Bottle at home. Clear golden liquid, no head. Fizzy carbonation. Light aroma of citrus and bread, really crisp though. Light sweetness, light bitterness. Not much taste to be savoured, but the crispiness of aromas and the carbonation makes this a good beer.
